I wonder if the issue is similar to that with the same card in the A2000 in that it autoconfigures a bunch of stuff but then has no COPCFG to let the next PIC to autoconfigure.

In the case of the A570 it would play nicely except as the 86pin connector has "CONFIG IN" grounded so it is expecting to be the very first device yet in reality due to the HC533 the OS has already autoconfigured a bunch of stuff.

You could probably manage to get a normal ATAPI CD-ROM to work of course but IDEFIX97 will screw things if you try that with a CF card.
