Might sound a bit silly but did you copy ACATune to SYS:C/?

As siggested by demolition, try simply:

C:ACATune >NIL:

At the very beginning of your startup sequence and see if that works.

Also although it might be irreverent, what hardware do you exactly have and what version of Workbench?
