The best way to install BoingBags3&4 is on a clean system that you just built and haven[t tweaked with additional patches or "enhancements". Install OS 3.9, BB 1 and 2 and then the new combined BB 3&4.
Once your system is running with that you can start the tweaks and patches you normally do, though a few may already be included in BB 3&4.
