so I'm trying to fix my new 2nd hard spectrum joystick, it's black/red ones you may have seen them

my concern is the top button is really stiff but I dont think it's the button? I want to know if i can replace this popping metal stud with something softer is this a good idea? what sort of metal? it's that metal stud that is too stiff.
