Real cause seem to be sprite buffer overflow (I could duplicate this but not the color problem, probably depends on memory layout and something got overwritten). Sprite buffer size was reduced recently because it was extremely huge but I guess it was reduced a bit too much and this part (didn't test) use lots of 64-bit wide and very tall AGA sprites in superhires or something like that.
But it should have happened with any version of this demo, even with original disk version -> always test disk version first. WB and WHDload makes debugging more annoying.
