Nah, if it were that simple it would already be implemented in WinUAE
The problem is that with Amiga it's not trivial what is on the visible window and what is not (copper makes everything damn hard, and the DIW registers can only give you a rough idea).
I imagine if Toni implemented an automatic centering algorithm he would be inundated with warnings that the screen is not in the right place basically half of the times.
Some games/demos change 'centering' in real time several times during their run!
An example could be the latest Batman Group demo: if you tried to do an automatic centering it would be a real disaster, just observe what happens in the DMA debugger
