English Amiga Board - View Single Post - Amiga 3000 vertical bars (jail bars) via VGA normal?

I have a VGA LCD monitor that can sync down to 15kHz (Dell 2001FP). With the 31kHz scan doubler off (outputting 15kHz on VGA), I get the jailbars just like the photos in this thread from my Amiga 3000 using the VGA port. If I connect the same monitor's VGA input to the 23-pin standard Amiga 15 kHz video port, I see no jail bars. I use a home-made cable from 23 pin to vga with a 74ls14 to buffer the hsync and vsync. What could possibly be the explanation?
