A lot of the joysticks made in the Amiga’s glory years were obviously not made based on observations of humans playing games, or even of human hands. Instead, many joysticks were based on previous joysticks, dating all the way back to airplane joysticks, which are a poor match for computer gaming apart from (naturally) flight simulators. They also looked good on pictures, which is always important for a commercial product.
It looks like this joystick is repeating the same mistakes as Quickshot et al, making a joystick that works fine for flight simulators but is hopeless for arcade games, where you need short throws and the ability to dedicate one hand to directions and one to fire buttons.
