While this would have probably been done in an analog way outside of Denise ... the "calculations" are not really a big thing:
you do not need a ALU or something like that, because this are just 3 fixed operations you would do in parallel on transistor level.
the "divivion by 4" or "two shifts" are actually just connecting the two topmost flip-flops (that hold that value) to the two last entries of the adder that follows next ... and so on.
