I have managed to solve this mystery. It was the hip.key file from aminet in L: that was the culprit. Upon removing it from its location Hippo started to work again... happy days!

To be precise, S3M(Screamtracker), XM (Fast Tracker II) and IT (ImpulseTracker) were all PC tracker formats. They did not originate on Amiga.

I've managed to get it sorted in the end, controller needed to be set to uae but the disk type to rdb. after this change, the extra partitions started to work without issues.... boy was it fun...

It's solid, works well and carries a lot of backported functionality from WinUAE.
