That does indeed help --- but only very slightly. But I've managed to do some more debugging; it seems that when it crashes, my machine resets. (I laboriously wrote some code which intercepts the...

Thanks very much --- that works fine!

Now I just need to work out why my much simpler memory fill routine always appears to hang the board after writing 205 bytes. It's not related as to where...

Oops, I completely forgot to say --- this code loads at 0xffffffc0, so all addresses can be represented with a negative 16-bit value rather than needing a 32-bit address...

Can anyone make this code shorter?

I'm working with a Dragonball VZ CPU. It's got a built-in bootloader which allows you to operate the CPU remotely (with no RAM or ROM needed); this has a 32-byte buffer which you can use to upload...

I don't see it reported anywhere as an expansion card --- it seems to be completely dumb, and just adds DRAM chips to the chip memory bus. When it's plugged in, RAM appears at 0x100000 up.

I've...

A600 1MB memory card showing up as 512kB?

I recently acquired a really crusty old A600 and have been making it work. It came with a AMPRO6001 trapdoor memory module, which had been badly mauled by the Varta battery (accurséd be their...

I should clarify that the power light is not _blinking_ on/off. It's changing from bright to dim. I've seen references that the brightness of the LED is actually under software control but the same...

That's fine --- it's your software, you can do what you like with it! It's just that those decisions mean that I can't use it.

D'oh! I saw that, but as the list of software included vlink I thought binutils was just being used as an assembler. Building it now. Thanks!

Looking for an open source cross assembler/linker

Hello,

I want to write some 68k Amiga software, cross-compiled from Linux (porting a compiler). It's a combination of C and asm using gcc.

Unfortunately it looks like GNU binutils doesn't...

Power light flashing on an A600?

I have a new A600, my first Amiga. It was pretty ratty and I've spent a lot of time cleaning it and getting Kickstart 3.1.4 on it.

While it appears to be completely solid in normal use, I'm having...

What are the 16 bytes of metadata in disk sector headers for?

I'm reading Amiga floppy disks (context: http://cowlark.com/fluxengine).

An ADF file has 2x80x11 512-byte sectors.

However, an Amiga floppy disk has an extra 16 bytes of data in each sector...
