Test the RAM with something MBRTest-2 or Amiga Testkit.

But please, use a file manager. Dopus, FileMaster, SID, CLIMate, Filer, whatever. Workbench is not nice as a file manager, even though they tried to add such functionality in V36 and onwards.

The seconds are frozen if you are in set mode, but they should be running when you are not.

Sounds like you need to do some rework near the RTC chip, in case there are bad solder joints.
