For Dune 2 you can use your own system-configuration file (find it in data/devs/ directory). However, with fastest setting it is still to slow and I would recommend to play the non WHDLoad version.

I never used PCMCIA because there was nothing useful for it. CD drive was/is connected to IDE port which was the better/cheaper way. RAM was on cpu card.
