I did something similar. I copied the ISO to my Amiga, mounted it and extracted the contents to a small emergency partition. Then I booted from this partition.

Funny enough I made an emergency boot floppy last week. Roadshow, smbfs, hdtoolbox & lha easily fit on a 880k floppy. From there I can rebuild my hard drive if the worse happens.

Be 100% sure you have not plugged the cable backwards. It's easy to do as it's not keyed. Pin1 on the motherboard should go to pin 1 on the gotek.
