There are timing differences between PAL and NTSC Amiga's. Some software has no problems with that, some has minor issues (music playing incorrectly in games for instance) and some just doesn't work....

I admit that I haven't seen that much real world game code, but the code I did see generally didn't clip at all and instead used space around the bitmap that was as big as the biggest BOB drawn...

I prefer to either not clip, or to only clip to the nearest 16 pixels (both horizontally or vertically). That way, the overhead for clipping is almost always worth the gain in cycles for not blitting...

Yeah, even with 4x fetch mode that's still a lot to do. It's quite cool to see it run at full speed with Fast RAM though, there's not that many 50Hz games in 256 colours on the system :)
