What is the biggest Amiga game codewise?

Which Amiga game is the biggest when just taking its program code into account without any data files?

My bet is Mr Nutz because it is a huge game with lots of different bosses, the Zelda-like stuff, the 3D tunnel levels, ... really lots of stuff in there. Or maybe Brian the Lion or Kid Chaos, but definitely a platformer in my eyes.

What do you think? Which Amiga game has the most raw code lines?

I think 1200 kb of code (850 game, 350 editor) is quite hard to beat :cheese

You mean as binary or source code ?

Ambermoon is almost as big if not bigger :)

I mean binary. Source code is >5 megs :p
Some ambermoon files contain a lot of data, btw.

i was talking only about the executables.

It's sure some files use lots of data that are not code.

@meynaf: Kudos for your efforts but I meant games from the "classic" period :)
@dlfrsilver: Only the estimated number of code lines, in 68000. Executable size doesn't count. Script code doesn't count either. Only the raw 68000 instructions.

Surely Frontier - Elite II?

Code size is irrelevant... any program could have 1 meg of nops, that would be hardly noticable when running ;)

mc68060 02 November 2016 22:48

Well for statistical reasons I think it would be quite interesting to know which game is the biggest concerning code size... of course code size is a purely statistical factor and doesn't say anything about quality...

daxb 02 November 2016 23:13

AB3DII TKG comes with about 810 kb.

I disagree, it would cause a huge delay of about 1 ms :)

Depends on the CPU :D

On a 68000 running 500.000 nops (about 1 meg) would take closer to 0,3 seconds :nuts

The nops can be there without being executed at all, any other instruction block can do the same as well ; this is called dead code. And in some programs there can be quite a lot of it.

Anubis 03 November 2016 14:10

Samantha Strip Poker - DD size, IIRC

mc68060 03 November 2016 14:49

@daxb: Good bet. I completely forgot that Alien Breed 3D II is really a massive, massive game.
