Creative 3DO Blaster , anyone?
wow, just remembered this ISA card, basically a 3DO on ISA for pc, with passthrough vga cable...
I don't suppose anyone wants to sell one , eh? I always wanted one back then, geeky stuff!!!! :cheese :cheese :cheese |
3DO as in game console 3DO!?
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!! |
yep. a complete 3DO on an 16bit isa bus, u plug a cdrom, and loop the vga cable like on voodoo1/2 cards... plus u need a SoundBlaster for audio-out...
I bet they sell for much though.... or not, dunno |
Nah they are crap guys. Sure on paper they were good. But if i can remember they had crappy joypad drivers or something that meant the joypad/control emulation were crap. I wouldn't bother. It has hardly any support, a bummer to setup and run and probs cost a gold mine on ebay.
Regards EDIT Are you trying to gbet this running on your GoldenGate setup by any chance? |
@CU_Amiga: no , no , never thought of that lol
just remembered it on an ad I saw on an old magazine, and I was drooling for one back then, ofcourse I doubt it was imported to Greece.... |

They don't sell cheap from what I remember...

Actually i think there was a problem with the CD-ROM as well. You had to have a special type of CD-ROM (a slow one i guess). Even then i think it had problem with the CD-ROM audio track and the FMV. Oh, you needed the special 3DO joypads for PC too i think. The whole design was flawed.

I had one, worked great! :)
The CD-ROM and pad came with it so if you see one anywhere on its own it would essentially be useless. Was a fantastic piece of kit in its day, buy as people have said theres zero support for it and they go for stupid money (got 125 GBP for mine) on eBay. EDIT: The CD-ROM has to be a 2x Panasonic CDR 563B. |
@Mick_AKA
at that sorta money it would be cheaper to buy a 3DO console! |
Yep, pretty much!
Heres a pic I found of all the kit: http://assembler.roarvgm.com/3do_bla...doblaster5.jpg |
Okay, I'm conviced
I want one.... |
As the guy above said if the kit doesn't come with it then it is useless. I heard that there are problems with it running but that maybe due to different setups. There aint much software/driver support though, so could you even get this running on xp/vista?
Regards |
Mick I cant see you picture :(
|
you know i m wondering if technically it could run on an amiga with pci-ports... hmmmm with an SBC like the Golden Gate 386/486SLC it could go if there was an isa to pci bridge....
hmmm what about a fast miggy with active pci under crossdoss or pc task? hmmm |
Check out this page:
http://www.heimcomputer.de/konsolen/3doblast.html Shame it's in German. The 3DO blaster only uses the PC as a VGA passthrough and consequently only needs a 386 with 1mb graphics! |
It might run with Amiga Golden Gate setup. I have no idea about PC hardware emulation on Amiga. I don't think perfomance will be upto much with software based emulation! ;)
|
if all the SB3DO card does is to use the pc as nothing more than a vga output then it should work on a PCI equiped miggy. may need a skeleton dos to fire it up but other than that it would be very easy!
|
Well i would like to see 3do running on Amiga hardware or software pc emulation! :) I was thinking about getting one of them GoldenGate emu cards. Are they any good? I bet they are rare too!
|
I will report on the GoldenGate486slc as soon as I replace the mk2 with the csppc board... and test it with the ati combo card...
that 3do card looks sweet, ebay prices are ~400$ for one... and it only works with one cdrom model, a 2x panasonic one if I am correct... |
