Checksum errors on larger disks

Hello, I have a 240GB disk on my Kick 3.2 A4000. It has all the EAB ISO and ADF archive files that I am using with DiskImageGui. Yesterday, a checksum error happened on my 74GB partition after I turned it off forgetting I was transferring some files. Even on a 060 60mhz, it ages for the DiskSalv repair option. If you know anything besides DiskSalv, could you please point out? I am doing a Raw HDD restore with USB IDE adapter right now. Thank you.

DiskSalv does not support harddrives larger than 4GB. If you let it write to your harddrive (i.e. Repair, Undelete etc.), it will destroy some data inside the first 4GB of the drive, which probably is not even the partition you try to repair.

Your best bet probably is DiskDoctor of OS 3.2. But it does not offer an in-place repair. You need another harddrive to copy the files to.

The best advice you can get is to not use such large harddrives on an Amiga.

I guess I will be using the raw copy method then. It only takes about 2 hours to completely restore it. I might also migrate my System and Work partition to a lower capacity CF card. But the archives really do their job, I’m glad I have given my whole week to convert all the tracked ISO’s to single and organized the whole archive. :D Thank you.
