Eye of the Beholder 1/2 AGA on Amiberry/Pi400

Hey there!

I got some problems getting the AGA versions of EOTB1/2 to run on my Pi400. I'm using Amiberry 5.5.1. Everytime i try to launch one of em i get the message:

DOS-Error #205
(object not found)
on locking "EOB2-AGA-FULL"

I already edited the whdload_db.xml file and changed
<datapath>EOB2-AGA-FULL</datapath>
to
<datapath>data-vga</datapath>
because thats the name of the directory in the lha-archive. But the error-message is still the same.

I use the EOTB versions from the EAB-FTP.

Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?

Maybe try with http://aminet.net/package/game/misc/ScummVM_AGA_060

Try using the name of the directory which contains all the files and the data-vga directory, not the data-vga directory itself. I assume you get the error because the slave or its icon can not be found.

Or you could rename the directory to EOB2-AGA-FULL and don't edit the XML.

Without having tested it, this sounds like the first thing to try.

I could do that, but i want to use the automap feature of the AGA version. I‘m too lazy to draw maps by myself… :p

The name of the archive and the name of the slave file where already like in the XML file. I only changed the name of the <datapath> to data-vga.

Well, later i‘ll try renaming the directory and not the XML entry…

you are are right, it's great feature :laughing

and there'are are a cheat mode to type on map screen to see full map and move your team on map using cursor keys (word of 4 letters...)

trainer can be disabled using same word on map.

Badly, i am not done Amiberry 5.5.1 version package an no Pi400 to test

I've looked at the XML and I'm actually not sure. What you have done should have worked. I wasn't expecting the datapath to actually point to the specific data directory within the games directory.

Since there are multiple versions on the FTP which don't have a separate game directory, it might be possible that this causes a problem.

If renaming does not help, try using these files: http://ftp.grandis.nu/turransearch/s...0&httplinks=on

They should match the entries in the XML besides the datapath. So your edited XML might work with those or I don't have any more ideas.
I don't know how the Amiberry WHDLoad system works but maybe removing the datapath might be worth trying.

CFou! 11 January 2023 11:20

have you try?
<datapath>EOB2-AGA-FULL/DATA-VGA</datapath>

indeed game data are noramaly in:
EOB2-AGA-FULL/DATA-VGA/

and slave in:
EOB2-AGA-FULL/

but perhaps WHDLOAD following option must be added somewhere
data=data-vga

indeed DATA folder is not define in my slave files but in the launch icon in my official last package:
https://web.archive.org/web/20180521...2%20AGA%20GAME
https://web.archive.org/web/20180521...1%20AGA%20GAME

PS: i will post here soon both new compiled slaves for EOB1 & EBO2 AGA with DATA folder forced in DATA-VGA/
perhaps it will be more easy to launch on Amyberry...

Since some of the files aren't available via Wayback Machine anymore I've created a folder on Turran's server for them: http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/No...es/HD/EOB-AGA/

If there are any more files that should be added please let me know.

CFou! 11 January 2023 13:10

here:
new slave 0.3 with DATA folder forced as DATA-VGA

expected tree:
main_folder/EOBx.SLAVE/ => only slave
main_folder/data-VGA/ => all VGA & AGA data

EOB1&2-AGA-WHD_src_103.lha

can you add following archive in the FTP too ?:
EOB1&2-AGA-SRC-full.zip
_Westwood_PC_tools.lha
[EOB1&2-AGA-WHD_src_103.lha
UnCPS-AGA_SRC.zip

TCD 11 January 2023 13:29

Sure :) All four files have been added to the server.

Retroplay 11 January 2023 13:40

EOB1&2-AGA-SRC-full.zip is password protected, just FYI :)

it's normal it's just a backup in case my house burned!
the password will be released one day.
but for the moment I want to keep control over the sources. because I would like to clean them up a bit and fix some bugs (like the problem of the outro crashing if the map has been opened) before releasing the sources ;)

Thank you very much CFou!

Both games now started at first try with the new slaves.

i have to check out why this happens... in one hour i got time to look at this new problem :rolleyes

it's no longer my responsibility, it must be a problem configuring your AmiBerry ;)
