Northstar Fairlight Megademo III

Absolute classic piece of demo history right here but unfortunately it needs an A500 with Kickstart 1.2 to get past Celebrandil's demo towards the end which has the Popcorn music.

It doesn't even like a 1.3 A500 and I've tried it on my rev8 A500 with Kickstart 1.2 and it still crashes. Not sure what other chips changed when Commodore released Kickstart 1.3 but it failed to load on my machine (1.3) which I bought not long after a mate bought his 1.2 A500. I was gutted, it was my favourite demo and is now my second favourite (Demons Are Forever has already been WHDLoadified :)

The patch for NS&FLT megademo 3 is almost finished (for quite a long time already) but I still have to fix a lot of OCS only stuff to make the demo run properly on all machines. I'll have a look at finishing the patch in next weeks/months.

Amazing - thank-you!

My pleasure, it's quite a classic demo which deserves a patch, I already spent a lot of time patching the parts as there are lots. I also had a look at the patch code today (source has a size of more than 30k already) and it turns out I fixed all the OCS only stuff back in the June 2016 already (first work on the patch was done in 2011) so it might be possible the patch will be released soon.

Thanks!

Thanks guys. :) I got a report that part 17 didn't run correctly on some machines and updated the patch accordingly.

I’d never seen this. A couple of the scrollers look cool, I think I’ll nose around the copperlists :) . They weren’t spamming scroll registers in 89 were they?
