That secret Space Invaders game in Project-X

Has anybody successfully entered that level.
No matter what I do I always crash into the end-of-level boss instead of entering that level.

From HOL:

Quote:

If you fly into the first end of level baddie when its jaws opens
up, avoiding its fire and being careful not to touch it, you will
be presented with a version of Space Invaders. Complete one wave
and you will be given three extra lives and be thrown back into the fray.
I'm beginning to think it's a hoax, I've tried like 50 times now to no avail. :banghead

Retroplay 03 April 2007 21:50

I posted at dream17.co.uk regarding that level and they also think it's fake.

Mad-Matt 04 April 2007 00:53

Sure your not getting mixed up with the new zealand story whale ? lol

i dont remember the flying ball thing boss having jaws. If the cheat exists at all I bet it only in SE version. ill play tommorow and see ;)

killergorilla 04 April 2007 10:28

I remember reading this in a magazine at the time but never got it to work.

I had both the original and the SE version, and the most I got it to do wash crash when you flew into its 'mouth'

Zetr0 04 April 2007 11:09

if its worth anything ..... i have beaten the game, and I never found any space invader sub game.... truth be said though........... i wasn`t looking for it either..

Graham Humphrey 04 April 2007 12:25

This was actually in loads of mags at the time. Again I've completed the game and never found it, and couldn't get it to work when I did go looking for it. Let's face it, it doesn't exist.

Zetr0 04 April 2007 12:50

were these magazines circulated arround april time?

BippyM 04 April 2007 13:10

I remember seeing screenshots too

Not as far as I'm aware no. There's one in Amiga Power, around summer '92 time I think, they all appeared around or after this time if I remember rightly.

Interesting that Bippy remembers seeing screenshots, I can't ever remember seeing any at all.

yeah,... but he was young... and needed the money....

LOL.... perhaps the AMR could help.

BippyM 04 April 2007 14:02

I remember the game used some of the gfx from level 1 as aliens, no new gfx was used

killergorilla 04 April 2007 14:19

Now you mention it I vaguely remember screenshots, but I can't remember what they contained at all.

I remember trying it loads because this was "the game with no cheats", that was later found to be crao though ;)

BippyM 04 April 2007 14:32

the first wave of aliens from levbel 1 was used as the invaders..

indeed, then lets hitup the AMR for not only confirmation, another reason for me to play this great shmup again!

BippyM 04 April 2007 15:32

it could be fake still..

Magazines have been known to fabricate screenies befdore and let's face it Team17 were pranksters too ;)

Mad-Matt 04 April 2007 17:35

tried with projectx se with the help of whd inf lives and limited collision detection. no ammount of flying into centre of the boss did anything.

im not skilled enough to get to the boss in Original projectx, the missiles that come from top and bottom and sorta track me got abit annoying and finished me off ;)

mailman 04 April 2007 18:23

It is a hoax. There were many of them in magazines during heyday of Amiga.

Ultron 04 April 2007 18:39

Don't believe prophet Bippym!

He lies about your god!

He had no visions!

All blasphemy!
