[AmigaCD] Genetic Species - .LHA (for real Amiga users)
Heya guys,
Well it had to be done... just to completed the Vulcan Software MegaSeries Vol. 1-4" collection :agree Others can be found here: ... [AmigaCD] The Strangers - .HDF & .LHA (for real Amiga users) ... [AmigaCD] Final Odyssey: Theseus Verses the Minotaur - .HDF & .LHA ... [Amiga CD] Uropa²: The Ulterior Colony - .LHA (for real Amiga users) So, today I've installed another "AmigaCD" game... Genetic Species ;) Of course, it no longer requires the CD-ROM anymore... https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images...7/0010937a.png ...given the original CD has 8 x audio tracks; not much use to anyone that can't access / run the files without the CD inserted. Of course you won't hear these audio tracks with this package... I also didn't add the patch "GSAddOn_Engine.lha" as that requires the CD to be inserted all the time so is against the point really... Extract to anywhere that you like. It requires roughly 302MB of space... Grab this new file on the EAB File Server under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/LHAs" ;) Regarding a .HDF, I will created a bare bones one for emulator users shortly... |
You're on a roll. Great work again!
|
You're great Damien! :great
I've just tried your other games and they all worked perfectly on my system! ;) I am going to try this as soon as possible... Thanks!!! |
I might try this as I have never got the sound effects to work using the CD version.

@DamienD
Hi mate! I've downloaded the .lha file twice but I am not able to extract all the files both on my Linux PC and on my Amiga. I receive an error that says that the archive is corrupted or something like that... could you please check it and let me know? Thanks!!! :great |
Genetics species need AHI for sound (ahi has a drivers "paula" if you have no sound carte)

Sorry to hear that you're having issues :crying All is good in WinUAE but I do need to set at least "2MB Chip & 8MB Fast RAM" to extract successfully... Problem is that the main video file is 200MB and then rest of the files are another 120MB or so... Ok, guess I'll try to split this... a) Just the large 200MB video file compressed into one .LHA file. b) The rest of the 120MB compressed into another .LHA file. Stand by ;) |
Nope, still no good.... :sad
Can any Amiga gurus please tell me the exact command line for LHA to compress all 300MB into say 10 equal parts (which I think will solve the issue)? Otherwise I'll need to use split and then write a batch file to re-join... Saying that, real Amiga user can't mount .HDFs can they? I could provide all files on a .HDF and you could then copy across... |
A bit hazy, but I think you can do this if you add the -Vxxx switch, where xxx is the split size in kilobytes. So maybe -V30000 in this case?
|
Real Amigas can mount HDFs, but they can equally easily mount .ISOs, making any other solution a moot point.

I did very quickly last night, could extract the .LZX files without issues but then got an error when running the game which doesn't happen with my original .HDF... It was late so; will try again tonight when home from work. |
GeneticSpecies on some systems AMiGA in particular those RTG You do not start because animation or intro not supported, It is resolved by disabling to script/start intro and animation.
My old videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2_OodHfeT8 |
I think you've misunderstood me AMIGASYSTEM, the game works perfectly on my .HDF. I'm not using RTG...
Archived up the "Genetics" folder, extracted the .LZX files to a clean "Classic WB 3.1 Lite" .HDF but then the game errors when starting. If I just copy the files from one .HDF to another .HDF then all is ok... To me this means something is wrong with the files inside the .LZX archives, yes they extract ok but the main video file has to be corrupt. Anyway, will continue with this tonight when home. I will find a solution :agree |

b) It is not simpler the way you're doing it. |
a) I used WinUAE but on AMiGA Real it's the same nothing changes
b) what is difficult to mount a script? |
Guys please don't derail my thread with real vs. emulation stuff...
|
a) The fact remains that you're using an emulator and also some "Afa OS" that hardly any real Amiga uses. This thread is about real Amigas.
b) What is more difficult about using the same script to mount an ISO? |
