A4000 and blinking CAPS-LOCK (also dead kb)
 

Hiya, a friend here has an A4000D with the original 040/25 card... the amiga works fine, boots, plays games, mouse is OK , joystic is OK.
but all keyboards when connected don't work, expect the CAPS LOCK key blinks... is this a known cause of these prob?

Maybe check that the kbd gets enough volts.

How many blinks is it? Just a single blink that goes on and on?

dunno, haven't seen the blinks yet... what I understood is that they go on and on...
thought I aksed in case it was a more common failure...

It strikes me as a little odd that every keyboard you try exhibits the blinking.

Power down the computer and check for shorts between DAT and CLK on the keyboard connector. There will be some conductivity between them, but if it's an outright short, that needs to be checked. Probably a bad CIA in that case.
