James Bond on the Amiga

James Bond returns in the excellent Skyfall, the 23rd film in the series. 2012 also marks the 50th anniversary of the cinematic incarnation of the character.

To celebrate, Lore looks at James Bond on the Amiga!

Nice summary of all those crappy movie adaptations :)

Excellent read Cody :great

Didn't realise there were so many bond like games on the Amiga, nevertheless, definitely worth a read :)

All your Bond are belong to us!

I don't know what hurt more my eyes, the lack of formatting on that page, or the horrible James Bond games all in one page :P

It's really a shame there's no proper JB game on the Amiga!

James Pond were a great game ;). Not sure about the James Bond-games. Don't think i ever played them beside the c64 ones. It was one on the c64 i liked though.

For me, Sly Spy was a good game and I completed it many times. The Spy Who Loved Me was great with the cheats on, but too hard otherwise. Neat graphics. Apart from those the others are quite poor in my opinion. I had more fun playing Shaun Southerns Bond game: Operation Firestart on the C64. At least that game had playability even if it was way too easy. They did A View to a Kill on the c64 too. I guess you could also add ThunderJaws; as this was quite Bondy.

My older brother who didnt think much of the amiga or games seemed to like Live and let die.

The only other amiga games he played were Giana sisters, deluxe galaga and sky chase...

Thats not really relevant here...

I also liked Sly Spy, thought it was a decent conversion with some funky music and decent gfx.

I mean...other than Goldeneye, were there ever actually any 'good' James Bond games on any platform?

CodyJarrett 12 June 2020 23:01

Operation Stealth/The Stealth Affair is pretty good and The Spy Who Loved Me was fun.

Some of the best James Bond games are unofficial, like No One Lives Forever, No One Lives Forever 2 and Alpha Protocol.

I always felt TWINE for N64 was underrated. Nightfire and Everything Or Nothing were also pretty decent, as was The Duel on Master System and Mega Drive.

I know we're talking about games, but some people may not know that some of the visual effects were done on an A4000 with video toaster for the Goldeneye film (not the game). I remember an article in Amiga Computing about it. Involved fighter planes and satellite dishes, IIRC. I think that might be the only Bond film that the Amiga contributed to the production of?

Honestly, I'm not sure that I ever played TWINE on the N64.

Loved NOLF!

Operation Stealth had so much promise but was spoiled by the crappy arcade sections. The underwater scenes in particular where you get killed at random by the sharks was extremely frustrating.
