Batman the movie...

I am having problems with Batman the Movie WHD. Whenever I try to start it keeps saying:

DOS Error #205, Object not found on reading "BATMAN "

Does anyone have a working WHDLoad version of Batman the Movie? Or any other HD version? Any help appreciated.

looks like your playing from a windows folder, the file names have been destroyed. Zoned.

If you have lots of whd games installed into a windows folder, you can search all folders for UAE and it will show all the games that most likely wont work either for same reasons. they will have names such as UAE__BATMAN___

I have a trained version of Batman that keeps freezing in the 5th (last) level - the cathedral... :(

nikvest 28 March 2007 03:09

Great, this worked... I just need now to go over those "WHD does not work" games again...:spin

Is it by "The Band" ? I think I had that problem back in the day. It only happens if you play from the first level. If you reboot and start from the last level you can finish it ok.

sareks 28 March 2007 11:17

Yep, the Band.
Ok, I should try that out but does anyone have a version that works
all the way through ?

s2325 28 March 2007 11:20

Someone on youtube made longplay of Batman the Movie, he will know which version works.

Ironclaw 28 March 2007 11:30

I did, long ago.... well, it was a speedrun.

I think I used this version

Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean)[cr QTX](Disk 1 of 2).zip
Batman - The Movie (1989)(Ocean)[cr QTX](Disk 2 of 2).zip

I never play with trained versions when recording a game, as trained versions very ofter crashes somewhere... and no cheats are allowed at AR when recording a game anyway.

tukse 28 March 2007 12:22

Do I have to rename those files to get them work or what?

Ironclaw 28 March 2007 12:24

No, just download them and use them.

Why would you think you need to rename them?.

tukse 28 March 2007 13:14

I have downloaded those needed files. I am using real A1200.

I get this same error when I try to start game.

Batman filenames have empty spaces, thats why I think they are not correct.

Like this:

batman iff
cafe iff
chem iff

Mad-Matt 28 March 2007 13:20

transfered from a windows folder ?

best of reinstalling the game or downloading from the zone for 100% correct filenames

killergorilla 28 March 2007 13:38

You have to make sure you unarchive them on the Amiga, do not unarchive them in windows.

geoslake 17 September 2007 12:22

i encounter the same problem, it seems the file structure is very different, compared to other whdload games, which come with a "disk1" file, for instance.
Here, i have, as Tukse, a lot of files with "xxxx IFF" (3 or 4 spaces between the filename and the IFF extension).
Removing the spaces dont help.

Im using preinstalled whd games ("official versions") with latest whdload and latest winuae (non beta)

thanks

killergorilla 17 September 2007 13:27

You shouldn't be removing the spaces or anything. all of the filenames are fine to get the game working.

Did you unzip the games in windows?

mancity 05 January 2013 12:37

Can somebody please confirm how to un-archive this Batman game on a real Amiga?

Iv'e tried a few programs from aminet but noe seem to work?

Bamiga2002 05 January 2013 13:15

Try UnZip from Aminet.

I don't think it has a GUI though and I cannot understand how to use it.

Only reason I want to play it is because the C64 games was the first ever game I played when I received a C64 for Xmas when I was about 4. I absolutely loved the music and really want to try the Amiga version.

Bamiga2002 05 January 2013 13:51

Read the doc inside the archive, I recall you can use "unzip -x <archive> ram:" for example.
I have put the command in DOPUS so i don't have to remember it all the time :).

Bamiga2002 05 January 2013 13:56

What Workbench version you have? 2.x/3.1/3.5/3.9?
