Abuse amiga port
Hi all, can anyone supply me with a working install of Abuse. I have tried installing my own one with the aminet port files and original PC files. I continuously get the error "error : eval on bad cell"
Many thanks. |
For which processor?
|
hi zipper, for 060.

Ok, must have a look. I took part into the testing as the Friedens wrote the Amiga executables and remember there were problems with RTGMaster at least. I think it was running in my A500T/Blizzard2060/PicassoIV but probably have it now in my A4000/060/Voodoo3.

Here is my Abuse drawer lha'ed. I tried it on my 4000 and got it to start - but not a new game, had to load the saved one, which is from the start. The drawer contains the newest files and also older versions -a mess.

As a matter of fact it played nicely on Amiga Forever - after I installed ixemul libs. With nicer screenmodes - tried just 640x400.

I reopen this old discussion to find out if there are newer Porting than Abuse I have v1.4
On Aminet there are porting version 1.2 and 1.3 for CPU 030/040/060 From some tests done on WinUAE I found that it also works with 68020 CPU. Iin AGA and ECS + JIT Abuse version is slow, while on RTG 020/030/040/060 + JIT systems it is very fast. On more updated OS Amiga Abuse can't work because it requires an old version of ixemul v47 and doesn't work with ixemul v63.1. Same problem with AHI also works here with an old version, with version 6.7 it doesn't work with audio. Tutorial Video: Abuse WinUAE A1200 030/RTG |
Any info on this porting? Abuse doesn't seem to interest anyone :)

Damiano was on an Italian magazine installed 20 years ago.
Anyway you can find Abuse and other porting on Amiword Italia: http://www.amiworld.it/giochi/port/port.html |

Hopefully there's a "readme" in the .LZX file so that I can read what changes / improvements there are compared to v1.2. |
Abuse.Guide included in LZX archive belongs to Abuse v1.3 (the one posted on Aminet):

At work today in the office, so don't have WinUAE; hence why I can't currently check contents of .LZX files.

You can unpack the LZX Archives with: https://totalcmd.net/plugring/UnLZX.html Always on PC you can see the .Guide files with: https://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/winguide |
Hi Carlo,
Home now and have taken a look at 1.4. To be honest; the main game files are the same size as the ones in 1.2. The only addition seems to be the ability to set "CD replay and CD.ini": https://i.imgur.com/bMeWVBc.png I've used "GetCDID uaescsi.device 0" to grab the ID String. I've put this into the "CD.ini" file and also launch the game with "-cddevice uaescsi.device" + "-cdunit 0". Game loads fine and says "Current CD: Tunnel B1" but unfortunately no music though: https://i.imgur.com/0DPFAeR.png Did you have any joy with music? |

Game loads fine and says "Current CD: Tunnel B1" but unfortunately no music though: I think there's only SFX and MUSIC as shown in my video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PTl...8bE-FUp1j/view "Current CD: Tunnel B1" maybe it refers to the MUSIC folder, if it seems that it does not use real CD Track :shocked |

https://i.imgur.com/iThvqcV.png Also the v1.3 and v1.4 archives don't have the "Abuse" file; only "Abuse030", "Abuse040" and "Abuse060". Quote:
Looked on the Abuse CD that I have; there are no audio tracks and all files are copied to hard drive. Guess there's no music then... strange that they talk about it in the Guide and there's the "Music" folder. |
Oh, one other thing.
Currently I have the game set to use "CGFX/Picasso96": https://i.imgur.com/f0eaAEK.png I would like to try running the game with RTGMaster (as you can then set Double Buffering): https://i.imgur.com/hk1db1l.png Unfortunately WinUAE "halts" when I select RTGMaster; no idea why: https://i.imgur.com/XD2lZcm.png |
