Lightwave 3.5 odd behaviour
I've install LW 3.5
But no matter what I've tried, it insists on booting up in 4 colour screen mode. I set it to 8, exit out. Then when I go to load it again, I'm back in 4 colour more. |
It has been a while, but lightwave is pretty much a greyscale app with the odd flourish of yellow and red. That is also an older version. Have you tried a later version?
|
No because I was trying to get this one's to work. Plus I need a version of lightwave that doesn't need an FPU to run
|
Does anyone know if later versions of lightwave will run on Amiga's that don't have FPU? I know 3.5 has Tel versions, was just wondering if that applied to version 4 or 5.
|
Version 5 I have only seen as FPU only... BTW, even V 5 seems to only use four colors for its' user interface. I'm running 672x432 @ 8 colors, and I see no difference. The UI was designed to be functional (tho non-standard) not pretty...

For years I have used LW with 8 colours, so using it now with 4 is bugging the hell out of me. I don't have a clue why it won't save the screen setup

Is this in the Layout editor? I have no idea why its not working. Try my config file on yours and see if that fixes it. Mine seems to be stuck on 8 colours - I can't change to 4! lol. :p
Looks like it was an invalid file - I had to compress it. |
Where is your config file?
|
So did it work or not?
|
Just seen the file, I'll will try it in a bit
Many thanks for posting that! |
Didn't work :-(
Any chance you could zip up your layout file? NOT the layout.fp file. |
ALRIGHTY I've made a discovery, this is a chipset issue.
I just loaded WinUAE with AGA and Lightwave automatically loaded in 8 colour mode. Soon as I went back to full ECS, it went back in to 4 colour mode. |

Great stuff. Are you running this in emulation by the way?
|
No I'm using it on an A500+ with a TF536
