Top down racing game

I've wanted to play this game for a while, and I'm afraid it's going to be somewhat hard but here goes anyway.

It was a top down racing game, you could drive multiplayer (2 on 1 computer), looked a lot like Micro machines except it was only regular F1 racers (I think). Not much else to it to go from. The screen scrolled, graphics were somewhat nice to look at, and I believe the game came on two disks.

Apart from that I don't think there was anything special about the game. I don't even think there was a shop sequence where you could repair/buy upgrades.

Don't ask me why I liked the game so much, probably because it was one my friend had while I had a C128 so it looked tons better than my games. Just like Dragon's lair did.

It wasn't that Team 17 game....erm, Overdrive or something?:confused

kriz 25 October 2002 15:23

From Team17 we have Overdrive and ATR (All terrain racing)racing . both nice top down racers ... Overdrive is my favourite of these two though, but both are fun . :)

Overdrive didnt allow you to play multiplayer in one computer, and ATR's "F1" car barely resembles an F1 car, so I think this is another game.

Akira is right, Overdrive didn't have multiplayer, I don't think ATR had either. I don't think it was a Team 17 game. I don't think it had that fancy a menu either like ATR and Overdrive had. I believe it was just a simple one without animations, but not quite sure on that point.

Now I remember a PD game that could fit into this description..
If I only could remember its name... I think it was High Octane or something like that...

Yep, 2 could play on the same computer.. The Micro Machines method applied :D

Could it be Nitro by Psygnosis?

Drake1009 26 October 2002 09:16

Could be Nitro, I'll have to look into it. It wasn't High octane.

Nope don't think it was Nitro. It looked more F1 like, no street racing I think, just track racing.

Frog 26 October 2002 14:17

Supercars 1 or 2 ? 2 players street racing.

It must be "Super Cars 1/2"

I believe it's Warm-up. I recall something about that difficulty level selection scheme.

The In-game graphics look a bit different from what I remember, but then, as I said it was back when I was playing C64 so it of course looked great compared to.

Gotta get around to downloading that later. Right now I'm tired and hurting from yet another moped crash. I think I can start having an annual one of those. And each one is different. Tonight it was a couple on a moped failing to yield when they had to and when they realized someone was coming from the road they parked neatly in the middle of the side of the road I was going, so understandable I'm sore and wanting to sleep at 1:42AM. I'll get hold of the game tomorrow and crash a car there without any of the pain of hitting the road involved.
