Music stolen ?
Hi guys
Just want to share with you what i spotted It seems that the music of this game https://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Arnie is stolen :rolleyes The original one is this module http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=56235 The music is nearly the same indeed, except for some speech which is not present in the game music I can say that the music is stolen for two reasons: 1) the game is from 1992, the ST15 module is from 1988 2) the game music is Protracker format, the original one is Soundtracker What do you think, am i missing something ? :blased All the best, chip |
Dozens of games use music ‘borrowed’ from not only Amiga artists, but real film/tv music without licence, it was pretty common during the 8-16bit ‘bedroom’ coding years when most people turned a blind eye to such stuff.

As mentioned, it wasn't all that regulated back then. Usually it was fought over in diskmags, cracktro's and demo's, slandering others for 'borrowing' music and gfx.
It's interesting to sometimes just browse through the collection of demo's just to read the scrollers and dig up dirt from way back when:) |
Just spotted another curious case :blased
For the game Final Fight of 1991 it was used this demo music :D http://janeway.exotica.org.uk/release.php?id=33331 |

I think this one is probably "legit", Richard Aplin had links with the Share & Enjoy guys + Rogue Male/SAE did music for several games too, so it's possible they used The Judge's tune with permission here... |

Edit: Just saw the note on the entry which explains the credit for TSM. Might be worth to check with somebody involved in making the game to confirm how the music got into the game. |

The musician for this game is credited as Paul Butler but it's blatantly ripped from the Phenomena Enigma Megademo a track called "A Final Hyperbase" by Jimmy Fredriksson (Firefox) and Robert Ling (Tip). |

Warm up and sharpen the guillotines before it’s too late!

And please care about my earworm as well. (just jumping in, on this sarcasm train !)

I know it's a total offtopic, but I'm happy to say it, some time ago I made a cover of this TSM music on Atari ST. If anyone wants to listen to it, here it is:

Is a stolen pirate song still stolen? Things to ponder late at night.

One of the versions of Kingsoft's game "Sixiang" use a sample of "Black Betty" Stag's song version :
» Sixiang Sixiang » Stag - Black Betty Stag - Black Betty |
