You know when you want to see the window that is behind a window?
So you need to move it or click the top right corner?

Well this eliminates that and the windows work like regular ms windows.
You can click on the window or the scroll bar of that window and it will come to the front :)

Anubis 19 May 2016 06:09

Something tells me you're not using ClassicWB. :lol

Aarghh ! The "regular ms windows" way of doing has always annoyed me quite a lot :sad
Having the ability to differentiate active vs foreground is useful for e.g. copy-paste between windows.

What's the purpose of this thread anyway ?

Something tells me you never looked into your Commodities drawer.

Yeah, I just can't use Windows properly with it either. How many times you have a situation you'd need to see a certain window and write to underlying, and in the worst case you can't even move the top window because it's "child" window of something else and Windows doesn't even allow you to move it.... as an amigan I've used to a bit more flexible usage. I guess most Amiga users have double click to front option in use, but hardly not single click.

Yeah, how this tool differs from the hundreds of other possibilities which Amiga users have used always? Doesn't even OS3.x (maybe earliers too) come with the ClickToFront commodity? And MCP etc multifunction commodities have always had this built-in naturally... I bet nobody has ever used OS3.x seriously without one (configured to doubleclick or qualifier, but not to crappy Windows style).

Yep, 'ClickToFront' works well.

Still, another proggy to try :)

idrougge 19 May 2016 17:04

I also use FKey to add a keyboard shortcut to cycle between windows.

Just a small OT since we are talking about windows...

Does anyone know how is called the program that adds to the windows the "update" and the "show all files" button used in amigasys?

Yup, there's ClickToFront.
Also MultiCX does this.

And agreed on someone opening a thread with no description, especially when you click the link and the fucking software has no description either!! Why do people upload stuff to Aminet without describing it?

mfilos 21 May 2016 08:48

For update you just need AutoUpdateWB.
The show all files button is handy though

I'd like to know this too. What's the app?

idrougge 29 May 2016 15:52

I haven't tried AmigaSYS, but I think the answer lies in SYS:WBStartup.

liviux76 29 May 2016 22:35

Found it!
It is powerWB. It isn't in the WBStartup folder, though, there is the following line in S:AmigaSYSU-startup

run >nil: Sys:Tools/Commodities/PowerWB

Thanks for the hint! ;)

trixster 31 May 2016 15:15

Nice one, top app!

Yep. One of my favourites from the 3.1 days

But doesn't work with 3.5/3.9

And AFAIK, no-one has made one that works on 3.5/3.9.

Yes, I've tried all the versions I've found without success on 3.9... it's a pity since PowerWB is very nice and efficient... unfortunately the author isn't working on it anymore...
