My Crap

This is a list of the immediately accessable stuff from the loft that is salvageble. Aside from the slight grey mould on some items they should be perfectly scannable. Also, a lot of these came from an ex-computer games shop so have never been played (Elastic bands intact :)

But the damp could have bust the whole lot for all I know.
If anything / everything is wanted I'll mail it to Fiath.

I have tons of coverdisks AF/AUI mainly so I'll check them over too.

All games PAL/UK unless indicated.

Complete boxed (Most never run ex-retail, only the faint grey mould :)

Practically most of them are interesting, like Sim City is dumped a zillion times, but all people saved their game progress back on the disk... In CAPS list: Battle Isle is DE version (yet English text apart from the intro), Body Blows we only have one good dump (don't know which version) due to mastering error, Clue is DE, etc.
As for which disk being protected or not does not really matter, using an anology many games in mame are protected, some are not, but all of them are included :) The point is to get a 100% dump.
Fiath will be back around the 18th, August, he is on holiday atm.

Well, twice the chance of good luck here then.

Okay, but my disks are still suspect, fingers crossed.

iirc there was a recall, or the option to get an upgrade for it. Added shadows?

Ah, but in MAME most of the disks aren't available elsewhere already :)
And MAME doesn't include crappy hacks or bad dumps </dig at TOSEC> :)

Yeah, I forgot he's quite busy atm.
I guess the rest of the originals (unboxed) must have been in the bag full of water I chucked last time I was here.

When I mail them, is it ok to carefully flatten the boxes with a sharp knife or is it not worth the risk of damaging the corners?

IFW 07 August 2003 11:04

Body Blows: that would explain the tons of bad disks dumped... seems the recall was not that much publicised, otherwise many people would have dumped the correct disks ;)
As for mame: many of the "disks" were available in Raine, System16 emulator, Irem emulator etc already - yet you guys had to redump the lot, because they turned out to be incomplete or crappy or hacked dumps - pretty much the same here :D
You won't find a single modded/hacked etc image released in caps either - though this keeps the release volume a bit down, but while we are at it why not do it properly so long we can, before the disks die :)

IFW 07 August 2003 11:06

Better wait for Fiath about the knife and other dangerous stuff ;)

fiath 18 August 2003 12:16

I'm back.

Looks great! :)

If you must flatten the boxes, then no problem, but please be careful... :D

Sorry, must be brief... If I missed anything just post here or mail me... Thanks!

Tourniquet 24 August 2003 00:58

I'm back from Wales now too. I'll see if I can sort something this week before I start work.

/me is knackered from 7 hours of travelling, 4 hours of messing around at Namco, thn another 2 hours getting home.

IMPORTAAAAANT! :p
This one should work unlike the *.lha'ed version spread around.
Also some HOL screenshots would be great.

fiath 25 August 2003 10:40

Great :)

Was the Namco thing good? My partner had to work this weekend so I was looking after the baby. I was looking forward to that too...

Let me know what you want to do. Thanks! :cheese

Tourniquet 25 August 2003 10:47

I want to send the lot together, but I'm not sure the best way to do it. I'll keep some of the boxes from moving.
Anyone know if there is a limit on size and/or weight handled by the post office?

I'd send the a1200 too but that probably weighs a touch too much.

It would make more sense if I had some wheels at the moment.

How have others got stuff to you?

fiath 25 August 2003 14:09

Weight limit - don't think so, just gets very expensive. I sent a load of stuff to Hungary and it was heavier than the max on the scales, so they just used their "heavy duty" scales :)

A1200: Probably a ton of money. Thanks for the thought though!

Other people send, or if they are nearish (~1 hours drive or less) then I collect them. I think Leeds may be a touch more than 1h though ;)

Tourniquet 25 August 2003 14:21

My parents (and now me) aren't in Leeds :)

I'm just south of Chelmsford, Essex. Still a bit far to go though.

And I'll be commuting to Liverpool Street each day.

But anyway, I have boxes now. So look out for a delivery appearing to be full of poppadums or something :P

I'll catch you on irc sometime for details.

fiath 25 August 2003 14:51

I did wonder if you came down for Namco meet or not... ;)

Liverpool Street? I am in Oxford Street everyday...

Are they carryable? If so, I can come and meet you at lunchtime or something to pick them up...

Interceptor 25 August 2003 22:00

chelmsford

tourniquet, i am in chelmsford each and every wednesday, if you need some stuff dumped, i can collect it from you, dump it, and return it to you another week.

Tourniquet 25 August 2003 22:10

That might work, you are welcome to keep the stuff assuming you can scan it all etc and I count as a contributor :P

Unfortunately though I'll be working early->late up London and I'm not that close to Chelmsford, still 20 mins :)

For now I'll stick to plan A.
Or possibly plan B.

Interceptor 25 August 2003 22:38

that's fine, no problem.

we have a 600dpi color photocopier coming next week, makes scanning jobs a breeze :)

timing isnt a problem at chelmsford, evening is okay.

if you cant do plan a, or b, or whatever, just pop me an email.

as for contributions, any game that i dump on someones behalf, whoever it is, gets noted down as THEIR contribution, not mine.

FromWithin 26 August 2003 02:40

What Namco thing?

fiath 26 August 2003 09:34

Interceptor & Tourniquet:

Sure, I don't mind. Whatever is easiest. I guess Tourniquet that would mean you wouldn't have to flatten the boxes or carry a huge load of stuff etc.

I am about 15 mins away from you on the tube, but if it is easier for you Interceptor - then good stuff!
