I'm looking for an application

As far as I know, this was freeware. If it's not, bear that in mind.

I don't remember the name, but I'm pretty sure it was a three-letter acronym. It was a filesystem browser, distributed through BBS's (That's where I found it originally). It had two windows, one on each side of the screen, with the same buttons under each. The top row were drive buttons; DH0-1; DF0-3; RAM. Below that were various operation buttons, like copy (Which would copy something from the selected drive to the other drive). It ran off of a custom Workbench disk. The entire GUI was (IIRC), a light brown or gray.

I was at least as likely to use it as Workbench and I kinda miss it. I've looked, but so far, not found it. Anyone know the name and (If it is freeware) a link?

Thanks.

FileMaster was light brown:

True; however, the setup isn't correct - The buttons were under the windows. And smaller. And more numerous.

...Sorry, that should have been in the initial post.

Also, the method of selecting drives definitely doesn't match.

So maybe older version of Directory Opus?

Not Directory Opus, then.

Maybe NTP Commander? That's recently appeared on Aminet despite being extremely old. By default the GUI is blue but it can be changed so it appears grey as well. And it comes on its own self-booting disk too.

I remember a File Management program called TDM from an Amiga Computing Cover disk - I will try and find the disk - it sounds like it could be it...

Edit - found TDM (The Directory Manager) here... http://amr.abime.net/issue_484_coverdisks

@ma693541 - SID is a good call as well - could well be that...

Filemanager

Maybe the filemanager was named SID2 or just SID, don't have a clue what the letter's stand for, but i know i had it on some disk for my Amiga 500.

Can't test it as I don't have an Amiga here... but Clickdos is ringing a bell from memory...

None of the pictures match, so far. :(

All of the buttons (That I can remember) were arranged horizontally. I remember the general look and button layout a lot better than I remember the name.

Hmm...

1) Two windows
2) Small, numerous horizontal command buttons duplicated under each window.
2a) Drive selection buttons directly under the windows, horizontal.
3) Runs off a custom workbench.
4) Light brown or gray.
5) Name may have been a TLA.

If I remember more, I'll add it to the list.

ID go with SID that was mentioned previously.

I have uploaded SID 2.0 to The Zone!

Narf the Mouse 28 July 2010 21:29

SID may be it - It's the closest match so far. It seems a bit off, though, which may or may not be the long time it's been.

Thanks muchly - And, if you do happen across a better match, feel free to tell me. :)

Perhaps Diskmaster och CLImate ? (don't think CLImate had those colors though)

Josh 29 July 2010 18:02

Diskmaster II?

CLI Wizard perhaps?

Narf the Mouse 29 July 2010 21:49

Thanks, but not those - So far, SID is still most likely it.

The buttons aren't between the windows, for one. :)
