Recapping services masterlist

I thought it'd be helpful to have a one-stop list of where to find people offering recapping services in different areas. I will start the list with what I know and researched, but feel free to add below your service details and I'll add them to this post. Also if you have stopped offering this service, please notify here and the list will be corrected.

Jope has a repair people thread, but it has winded down sometime on 2016. Suffice to say some of these users do general Amiga and other old computer repair, but the goal for this thread is mainly about recapping surface mount technology motherboards. Also I plead to maintain the top post updated as often as people tell me they offer services.

If you want me to add information, please state your location (city and country) so I can add it on the respective area, and if you only take jobs from your country or if you are willing to work internationally. You can do so on this thread or send me a PM.
Likewise, if you want me to remove your name from it, let me know.

(Jope, if you think this should be merged with your other thread, let me know, or we can swap one for the other)

Good stuff, thanks :) It's a good list that could be added to the existing sticky so it's easy to find.

I've been keeping a list myself of people who have been recommended for Amiga repairs: http://www.robthenerd.com/amiga/repairers

It includes the types of work they do, and there are some on there who do SMT that could be added to your list here.

Also, Scotland is still part of the UK for now at least ;) So there might not be a need for two separate headings.

Just wanted to give a +1 for Steve - he recapped my new 1200 at the weekend, and also found and fixed an intermittent audio problem I didn't know I had. Very nice work :great

Hmhm. Wonder what to do with these threads. This one is way out of date too now. :-D

I noticed that this thread was a bit old, but I think the "recapping" title tends to rank it quite highly in search engines versus the other thread (when one searches for "Amiga recapping").

Good old accidental SEO.. Ok, I'll stick this one, inactive people on the list, please let me know and I'll edit you out if you like.

Thanks!

If they don't have to be EAB users, then I would highly recommend Anthony Hoffman in New Zealand--excellent, meticulous work!

Granted, international shipping isn't cheap, but I can personally vouch for how key he was in repairing and recapping my A4000 and A3000 motherboards (even finding and repairing an audio issue on my A4000 that I wasn't aware of), as well as recapping my A3640 (including upgrading it to v3.2), and an A3630 recap.

He's pretty busy, but he does an amazing job, thoroughly checking and noting his work, and his prices are very reasonable for the level of expertise he has and work he puts in.

His website and contact info are below:

Add another to this list of recapping here in Australia. I had my A1200 recapped in May and not only did this guy do a BRILLIANT job but he used top of the line Capacitors and cleaned the entire board in the process.

So the Capping was great and motherboard looks like it just left the Commodore factory. He normally works on Macs but works on Amiga's also of course.

A link to his website :great

Am I correct in reading that his price is $130 for an Amiga recap?

For the same service, I've been charging much less to help out my fellow Aussie Amiga users (my normal professional engineering rate would be unaffordable).

Thanks for the heads-up, it's time to double my prices :)

After about 3 years trying to find someone to recap my A1200, one of which didn't seem to do it anymore and the other telling me he's on holiday for quite an extensive period of time (can't remember who they were?) I was contacted on my Facebook by the aforementioned that agreed to recap my machine.

I would have paid even about $200 for the service because my A1200 would have cost me a lot more for another or for more extensive work on it since they hardly something you can buy from The Good Guys :D

It just so happens that I found this thread after my Amiga was recapped otherwise I would have contacted you to do the job because it was getting really hard to find anyone! I am actually from and live in Melbourne but while I was getting married in May I took my Amiga up with me and left it with him then picked it up later.

I think if the job is impeccable people will pay the money, because as I said and as we know, the classic Amiga's are aging and people know it so we need to keep them living :great
