is it possible to slow down winuae?

i'm trying to play lemmings but that there is a level which is fckng IMPOSSIBLE! as you need to save 100% of the lemmings at release rate 99. i'm simply not quick enough. i already tried tampering in cpu tab at cpu frequency but the game doesn't slow down. setting cpu frequency to "custom" and entering 1.0 for example also doesn't work. the next time i hit f12 that setting got reset to "2x (a500)" again. i need an extra slow emulation at 10% (or maybe 1%) of normal speed to be able to solve that damn level!

If you turn off the Cycle Exact options in the Chipset tab, the "CPU Speed" slider in the "CPU and FPU" tab becomes enabled. There you can set the speed to -90%.

It worked for the quick game I tested against. Hopefully it'll work in Lemmings too, and would be slow enough for you.

thanks, that worked! at -90% speed i was able to beat that damn level at very first try! :D

FPS Adj. in display panel is usually safer option because it slows down "emulated time", compatibility is not affected. Everything slows down (or speed ups) in sync.

I didn't even know this existed. Works great! I'll be using this quite a bit.

what should i say? that damn level simply is impossible without cheating.
at least i somehow "finished" that level by decreasing emulation speed.
by decreasing speed i did not have to use level codes to skip that level.

As far as I'm aware, all the cracktros that precede games on floppy disk contain trainers and other cheating aids, and have done so since the heyday of the Amiga AND other platforms. And even many games on WHDLoad have carried on this tradition as well.

You did right honx ! :)

I also used some external help for some games i liked in the past (like Lucasarts adventures) :agree

I love Lemmings .... complete it, cheating or not :p

honx: What level is this?

honx 23 July 2021 09:04

it was level tricky 26 "i have a cunning plan".

OT: Speaking of Lemmings, a recent RMC video touched upon that classic:

It shows how the levels were actually made :)

chip 23 July 2021 14:45

Always asked to myself how the levels of puzzle-games are created :)

Slowing down WinUAE? You can disable CPU: JIT, enable CHIPSET: Cycle Exact, or enable CPU: Compatible and move slider CPU emulation speed + cpu idle...
