Happy Halloween
Hey everyone!
Here's a little Halloween gift for everyone. We only decided to make it two weeks ago, so it's a little rushed, the graphics and music will be finished off by the time the full game comes out, but here's a little demo of our new game, Halloween Nightmare. http://www.spin.net.au/~amiga/Hallow...htmareDemo.lha It should run on most Amigas with a hard drive, but extra RAM and a faster CPU will help speed it up since it was made in Backbone (a game engine based around Amos routines). I hope you like it! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Love from Moya |
Could you upload it to the Zone?
|
Wow, what a nice demo. All the sprites looks really beautiful, even a joypad is supported. A smooth 50 FPS scrolling would slow down the game speed, or is it possible with Backbone?
This cute main character reminds be a bit of Cotton 100%. ;) http://snesmusic.org/v2/images/screenshots/cttn.png |
Happy Halloween and congratulations developers!!!:bowdown
I love this game but it needs more difficult enemies. :great:great:great:great:great:great I'd like to participate in the development. |
It is great!
I have first few but reports: 1.) The main character - whed duck - doesn't animate 2.) When the main character is followed by a rescued child and falls to its head (for example from ladder), the weird collisions occur. All on my A1200/030. |
The lack of animation in the characters is my fault, I just wasn't fast enough to finish all the pixelling in time for Halloween, but it will be fixed by the time the full game comes out (probably in a few months time).
We'll fix the head-bouncing thing with the kids too, so they'll just cross past each other rather than bouncing off their heads. The full game will have more, harder enemies, and different weapons. And due to the limitations of Backbone, there's not much we can do about the scrolling except reduce the screen size so it runs faster on slower Amigas, so when the full game comes out we will have a few different releases for slower and faster Amigas. I've never seen Cotton 100% before, I'd like to check it out though. Which system is it for? I'm uploading the demo to the Zone now. |
May the spirit of the Great Pumpkin be with you.

DiscreetFX already gave it's treat instead of a trick.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=32899 :) |
Hopefully a coder will come along and think "This looks like a fun game, I might offer to code it from scratch in something better than a point & click game maker program" and then we'll have our 50fps version. On my A1200 030/50 it stil runs pretty slow, unless I reduce the size of the screen. I'll upload a smaller, quicker version later.
I decided to have a look for Cotton 100%, and found the SNES version so I'll give it a go, thanks for that. Great news from DiscreetFX. If only I had broadband and a computer capable of running their software, I'd get it. |
Will there be secret doors/corridors?
|
Congratulations on getting a Demo out Good Start
|
It´s great!!! :great
|
There will be plenty of hidden doors, switches and passages in the full game. It's a shame we can't put a shop in there too, but it's not possible with Backbone.
|
It think the shop is nothing difficult for average skilled programmer. It is only the couple of variables + some graphics.
|
Would you please write a review of Backbone?
Could you please explain to everyone what are its strengths and weaknesses? |
Unfortunately we don't have an averaged skilled programmer working on the game, hopefully one will come along and join the team. Until then, we'll have to stick to using the point & click game creators out there like Backbone, SEUCK, GRAC and GRAAL. I would try using Reality, but the disks I received when I bought it from Ireland back in the day don't work. The postal service had opened the package and put some sort of glue inside the floppy disks, and I never got a replacement (that was money down the drain). Perhaps the title on the label (Shoot em up) made them think they were terrorist plans or something.
I guess I could write a review of Backbone. Even though the program was never finished, it's still the best game creation software I've used. I might write something up over the weekend. |
Backbone Halloween
Are there anymore pictures?
It looks cool so far. |
We'll try and release some more information soon once work on our website has been completed. We have a few games coming up from Underground Arcade this year!
