Legend of Falconia

Good morning ladies and gentleman.
I was searching for this game but the only information I found was this https://www.mobygames.com/game/amiga/legend-of-falconia.
No HOL entry, no download anywhere.
Can someone confirm it really was released?
Regards,

Aardvark 15 September 2020 10:55

Hi guys,

after Space Cab and Dark Angel which also think it would be lost,
I have to tell you that also
LEGEND OF FALCONIA
is not LOST.

I have bought the Full Version 25 years ago and I stll have it here.
When I found this 4 Disks Adventure Game back in my collection I thought
this game was so good that there must be a Release in a boxed Version
because it is years ago that the Amiga has a more than one Disk Adventure seen in a Box. And I have the permission of the programmer to do that.

I wrote an article about that game in the Amiga Future 149 Jan 2021.

I also have the unfinished english Version here and I have it now full translated. There are just two things.
From the German Version existing the original 4 Disk Version playable just with a floppy or Hardrive. The formerly unfinished Version exists just as a installed Hardrive Version.

The German Version have a fully printed handbook. Because the english was unfinished before, it has no handbook so far.
I am planning to make boxed Version with the original german handbook, 4 Disk German Version and also a CD with German and English Version and a shortcut english handbook.
For english Users so it would be also possible to get a CD in a Jewelcase
alone. If a collector wants also a Box it will be also possible.
Of Course, it would be also possible to present it all as free download Version but I believe this game deserve more than that.
And the main reason for me... Because this game have no one played before it is like a "new" Adventure in a Retro look.
Maybe the AF will release it or if it is not to realise I made it by my own.
For me it will always a none profit action. If someting gets over it will be go to the programmer because he gets nothing back 25 years ago.

Here is a cut fronm the AF article.

So...
I am working on the 25 years Edition of Legend of Falconia.
There will be 2 different Versions.
One is mainly for the germans the other mainly for the english Amigans.

Because it mainly a german Game I will release in Germany a
Boxed 25 Years Collectors Edition which contains
1 Big Box with Cover
4 Amiga Disks with Laserprinted Labels (only german version)
1 Amiga CD (with german and english Versions on it)
1 printed 20 sides Manual
1 copy of a review of the german Amiga Special 11/95
1 Extra Label for a selfmaking Save Disk

The CD in this Box will be contains the following things.

Amiga CD32 compatible, which means direct bootable on a CD32 (is testing , now)
but here only german keymap compatible.
also a Drawer with a Hard Disk Version of the game which is complete playable
in german or english. The english Version was never published before.
The Manual in PDF, a Cover inlay for JewelcaseCD and the ADFs form the german Version are also on this CD.

The second Edition of the game was in my mind just for the english interest.
I believe there no need for english Amigans to play a german Disk Version so
I will make a 25 Years CD Edition which contains
1 Amiga CD With Cover Inlay/instructions and Jewelcase.

This CD will be also Amiga CD32 compatible (means direct bootable on CD32)
and with the german and english Version playable.
This Version will be using a english keymap.
Also there will be a Hard Disk Version which will be also playable in german or english.
This Version is for the main english User which have a Hard Disk but no CD32.
Also there will be the Complete Manual as PDF and a english shortcut intructions PDF on CD.

The CD32 compatibility is in test, now. All other Version are working perfect so far.

The game is compatible for Amiga with Kickstart 2.0 or higher and minimum 1 or 1,5 MB (Hard Disk) Ram.

Here are 2 pictures what I have planned for the
german colectors edition and the
english CD Edition
Attachment 72700

Attachment 72701

The Cover will be actualised if I am sure it will be working on CD32.

So,
with the licence from the original programmer I have released a
Legend of Falconia - 25 years Collectors Edition - which is released
inside the German a1k.org community.
So this cool Adventure gets a small honor after 25 years.
It contains all the stuff which I told you in the thread before.
The CD is fully CD32 bootable, now.
I released the full box for 15 €, but 3 € of every Box goes to the a1k.org community
and 5 € goes to the programmer because he did not get anything for his game in 1995/96. So more than the half goes to charity...
If the Collectors Edition will be away the Game will be downloadable from the Amiga Future site in the future.
If some english users are interested in some game hardware there can get a CD Edition (CD32 compatible) in a Jewelcase with short english instructions if they want.
I believe a Box with a german 4 Disk game will be no interest for english users.
Otherwise wait until it is downloadable.

AMIPEGUSER 12 October 2021 22:20

The Limited 25 years Collection (85 issues) are nearly sold.
65 issues are gone at the a1k.org Community.
The last 20 Boxes will be an offer in the next Amiga Future 153 (November) just for Amiga Future Readers.

The german ADFs and the German/English HD Version is also on the Cover CD at this issue plus a review and a interview of the programmer.
The free download version will be also available from the Amiga Future site in the next time.

Because it was also a charity project 5 Euros from every Box goes to the
"Germany Helps Foundation" against the flood disaster in Germany.
Because the a1k.org have just send some hundreds of Euros to them,
the Amiga community a1k.org get an official Charity Certificate.

So,

the Full German/English Version is free on the the AF 153 November 2021 Cover CD.
The AF is also available in a full english version.

jurassicman 27 November 2021 20:33

Thanks for this game Amipeguser.
I see that the HOL entry is still missing (and also the Lemon Amiga entry).
I got an original copy so if anyone is interested I can scan the box and the floppies...

AMIPEGUSER 27 November 2021 22:28

Oh Thanks but I was just in contact with cody jarrett and of course I have all
Original docs here.

For the entry in HOL I will also give some informations about the original version from 1995.

Hi AMIPEGUSER

I bought that issue of AF153, but I can't find the English version of the game. When I boot it up and copy the folder over it is in german and the ADFs are german.

Are you sure the english version is included?

Louk

twcustom 16 March 2022 11:50

Wow! I am the person who added this game to MobyGames, but had no idea until just now that anything other than the demo was available. I would love to play the full English version -- what is the best way to do that at this point? I'd buy the Amiga Future issue but Louk indicates this might be German only, what other options are there?

coldacid 16 March 2022 13:31

The full version of the game includes both English and German languages in it, and you select the language to use at start. There are some screens which have German text even when English is selected, but I believe that those are simply static images rather than rendered text.

Ah I see, thanks for the info!

AMIPEGUSER 03 June 2022 08:15

Hi again,
sorry for not beeing here, for so long.
First.. Thanks to all supporters which bought the boxed Version, limited to 80 issues and all others which supports the Amiga Future and bought the issue with Legend of Falconia.

@Coldacid is right. These are static pictures and they can not be translated because they had to be painted, new.
@twcustom @Louk
All texts which could be change was translated. The english version was never released before and was unready because of lack interest in 1995.
When I was thinking about a boxed re-release Frank helps me to made it possible to release this German/english Version, but it was not possible to paint the pictures, new.
There is also a map in the game, later. You can fly with a dragon to various places. The Map was also a static pictures but the places will be overblended with english on the Map. So in these special things it was also translated.
The ADFs are still only german Version. The HD-Folder is german/english and you can decide by the start which language you like to play. The second intro screen is mainly german, because it is a static pictures, but the credits under the screen are the first text which was translated. So you can see the first diffenrences beneath the two versions. After the start all menus in english.
