Virtual Disk Drive from WinUAE Code

I always wondered if it was possible to create a virtual disk drive from WinUAE code for real Amigas and Workbench 3.x.
It would simulate DF1: or maybe even override DF0: under Workbench and you would just insert an ADF and read the data from it.
It would work a lot like the disk drives in WinUAE. And since at one point in the 90's I owned an UAE version for real Amigas and if that code still exists, it wouldn't be necessary to program from scratch. And I have never found anything like that working simply and userfriendly and it would be so much needed.

There are plenty of them on Aminet.

fmsdisk.device
file.device
diskimage.device

to name only a few.

O.k., I just didn't get about to use them yet. Device, are those drivers for anything or real executables?

They let you mount disk images within Amiga OS and have them appear as regular drives.

How have you not seen GoADF! yet?

No I haven't, thanks. I mostly used emulation for more than 20 years now and only get my Amigas out of the attic for special days of some special years due to limited space. Only few time to try new software. More than 20 years ago, there were no virtual drives.

why can't we have a floppy emulator based on UAE but none of the other emulation like a virtual machine/shapeshifter type thing to run floppys including gamez?

You must have been sleeping. fmsdisk is from 1997, xfs from 1999. cdromemu is even from 1994.

Maybe, but it's also not what I am searching for after looking at it. I don't want to mount a single ADF as drive, I want a GUI that I just start with a F-key and then just insert an ADF and go. With easy disk swapping. More what Retro1234 said, a floppy simulator.

I think GoADF is more like that.

I mean we have WHDload and floppy mounters are great but none can emulate df0: and boot games etc.
