NTSC to PAL ...what's next?
i got an NTSC amiga to output in PAL for games that needed it
...but on a regular CRT TV, there's the dreaded constant flicker. what are all options from cheapest to most expensive? can i feed a composite video cable from an NTSC amiga into some generic "scan doubler" allowing me to play PAL games on a "north american" TV? not a big expert on this so if anyone can help i'd appreciate it! *edit obviously a scan doubler will solve one problem and not the flicker issue. are there signal specific A520 modulators? oh, i don't care for monitors. i'd rather view output on TV with UHF & composite video inputs, in the same tradition as vintage arcade machines :) |

;) Indeed there are PAL A520's... in fact I have 4 I am thinking of selling... I am in need of more NTSC type, as I am down to my last one...lol

ok i think i understand but feel free to correct me.
a modulator, depending on which one you have, alters the display ratio/resolution and has nothing to do with modifying a signal? ...may explain why i'm able to still view vertical rolling on a north american TV after converting the NTSC signal to PAL? |
I'm pretty sure it does alter it in some manner. If you were using straight composite, then forget it, there's definitely going to be a flicker if you're using an ntsc machine on a pal television. I'm not sure what else to say about it, I wish I could be of more help to you. Hope everything works out for you:)

would this give the equivalent effect of a PAL A520 ? anyone tried one of these with a v-hold capable television?
