Riamel ( Black Prophecy )

Hi all.

In my efforts to track down Steve Postma from Lords of Time fame.
I found this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgju...116Mv3TieCUfys

Game demo..

Does anyone have it?? I would be most appreciative if they do :) :) :)

lesta_smsc 28 February 2019 06:53

Interesting, according to this site it is available on 2 disks:

https://www.amigafuture.de/kb.php?mode=article&k=2968

stainy 28 February 2019 13:47

Thanks lesta :) how do I get hold of that? also in the game video it mentions the game coming on three disks. So this must be a demo... odd that a demo of a game comes on two disks though.

Also. what is meant by :-

Riamel (2 Disks - 1,5 MB!).............................Extra 0118 <--- whats extra 118?

stainy 28 February 2019 14:01

Does anyone have these 9 DVD`s ( Berliner SPIELEKISTE ) ?

What 3 disk game, it was never completed was it, so doesn't only the demo exist?

stainy 19 March 2019 15:59

Well the demo says to send Steve the cash and he`ll post the game to you.

Been trying to track this guy down for months. Me and this Polish guy have been all over the place trying to find him!

stainy 19 March 2019 16:02

Nope, but after you mentioned the 3 disk version I read the "Read_Me" file contained in the demo ;)

Code:

WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF RIAMEL
This demo is freely distributable provided all files on both disks are
not tampered with in any way.
The demo (as well as the game itself) requires 1.5 Meg of RAM or more
to run.  At least 512 K of this must be CHIP RAM.  You should also have
at least two disk drives or a hard drive.  Load the game from Workbench.
The demo is really just to show you how the game works.  You will not
get very far.  Regardless,  there are a couple of complexes to explore
and many puzzles to solve.  Instructions can be found in the file How.txt.
The real game comes on three disks and is accompanied by a thirty page
illustrated manual complete with a map of the game world.  It encompasses
a much larger playing area and includes several cities with some huge
underground dungeon sequences (not to mention the creatures that inhabit
them).  You can order it by sending a POSTAL MONEY ORDER in CANADIAN funds
to me at the address below (Canadian orders can send a personal cheque).

Steve Postma

Right.. an update.

I`ve been in contact with the author ( Steve ) and he`s answered some game related/development questions. I`ll put that up as a Q&A tonight. He`s also found the full version of the game.. so it looks like we have a brand new game coming. But I might need some help.
Not sure if he wants to send me the disks or get them imaged himself. Anyone have any ideas on who/what and people we could count on on both cases. Let me know the best/easiest way to do it ( himself and to send them to someone )
HOL people .. .we need a new page setting up :D :D

I think in this case we need to make sure it's as easy as possible for Steve; who's been so kind / generous to supply his original of this MIA gem :agree

Best case scenario would be for some trusted Canadian EAB member, preferable close by to Steve in Ontario, who has the required hardware in order to image these disks properly, and have the disks sent to him / her.

Failing that, maybe Steve could ship over to the UK so somebody here could handle the task. I'm more than happy to pay for whatever costs are involved; to the said person and back to Steve.

...but this shouldn't be a burden at all to Steve at the end of the day; and he needs to be assured that the disks will be looked after / returned to him as shipped.

stainy 12 February 2020 00:25

Indeed.. I want it to be painless for him.. it`s great he`s able to help us out with this.. but he moved on a long time ago and I don`t really want it to worry/burden him with it too much. I`m waiting on his reply so I`ll pose some scenarios to him.
Thanks DD

DamienD 12 February 2020 00:45

I keep forgetting that you are in North Carolina, USA stainy :p

I mean, if you have the required hardware then obviously it's better that this goes to you, rather than someone in the UK.

Shorter distance, quicker delivery times and less chance of being lost...

If you don't have the hardware though, then surely there are other trustworthy Canadian or American members that could help out :agree

Finally, it would be very cool indeed if Steve still has this:

Code:

The real game comes on three disks and is accompanied by a thirty page
illustrated manual complete with a map of the game world.  It encompasses
a much larger playing area and includes several cities with some huge
underground dungeon sequences (not to mention the creatures that inhabit
them).

The actual game is the main goal... but if Steve still has the above and someone could scan this for preservation purposes :great

Again, I'm happy to cover all costs of delivery to and from, regarding all items that Steve has / is ok to part with for a short period :agree
