Wanted: IPF or SCP images for World Series Cricket (HOL ID: 4209)

Hi,

I'm looking for the IPF or SCP images for World Series Cricket - as per HOL:

http://hol.abime.net/4209

http://hol.abime.net/pic_preview/box.../4209_box1.jpg http://hol.abime.net/pic_preview/dis...4209_disk1.jpg

The original game disks I have seem to be corrupted/over-written and I would like the IPF or SCP images to restore them.

If anybody has the IPF or SCP images of this game, I would really appreciate a copy of it.

Thank you!

BarryB 01 September 2020 21:21

No official IPF exists and not seen anyone sharing SCP images!

Maybe someone like dlfrsilver has a dump or another forum member?

dlfrsilver 02 September 2020 16:49

Always the same thing folks, who will make a kryoflux dump of this game ?

solarmon 24 October 2020 13:36

I have uploaded the SCP dumps of my disks, using Greaseweazle.

I've cleaned them again and got a good dump out of them. However, disk A doesn't seem to be original - it has the AmigaDOS 'swirl' pattern (where the tracks are not aligned with the index), so I assume this was once written over. Disk B seems to be original.

I have uploaded them in to The Zone!:

Both disks are virus infected, unfortunately.

I probably could if I knew where my copy of the UK release pictured was located - I'm not even sure if it's in the spare room or buried deep in some box in the garage. I think the original Aussie release of the game is in the spare room, though, if that's of interest to the OP. The copy protection possibly might differ, but nothing gameplay-wise AFAIK.

Ah feck! How embarrassing!

These are AmigaDOS disks, so I should be able to install a normal boot block?

Yes, it seems to work just fine, have a look in the zone for two adfs.

Thanks. I was being lazy and didn't convert to ADF to perform a scan on it. I'll be more careful next time before I upload anything.

I've deleted the offending upload.

I've got a UK copy, boxed and a set of loose disks!

My boxed copy has Disk 2 with the Lamer Exterminator virus but my Disk 1 has the ZeroVirus III bootblock. Strangely, the set of loose disks I have also have the ZeroVirus III bootblock on them, so was that how they were sold?

I'd say that it's possible, but also that users simply kept the disks too write enabled :/

I'll send you both my dumps later on tonight and let you see it the bootblock is original or modified!

BarryB 18 March 2021 18:00

I've just re-dumped both sets of disks and BOTH Disk 2 have the Lamer Exterminator Virus!! I think I made an ADF of Disk 2 from Disk 1 by mistake :(

dlfrsilver 18 March 2021 20:58

I'll check your dump :)

stevsurv 19 March 2021 13:12

Was it a good dump? :D

dlfrsilver 19 March 2021 22:01

both BarryB dumps are good. However, there is something i don't explain to myself.

Each disks 1 are fully Amiga written from head to toes (0 to 79). However, disk 2 is seen as duplicated and not modified.....

BarryB 20 March 2021 02:22

That is quite bizarre! So Disk 2 was duplicated, but duplicated with the Lamer Exterminator virus on it!

On the dump of the Loose Disks I sent, Disk 2 has a file deleted, game.data, does that not show as being modified?

ah yes, disk 2 on the loose disks is modified.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation!

So, the next question is: should the bootblock on both disks be a standard 1.3 bootblock? We don't have any other original disk to compare but the cracked Australian version has a standard 1.3 bootblock so was that how the original disk was?
