Pre-ordering didn't start as expected 24th december. :( I have waited this.

It's not super encouraging that even THIS is in delay, when it was announced just a day before rollout. Even when they think its just a day away from being ready it's still delayed by several houndred %.

I do however think the price is good. I did not expect them to hit this pricepoint.

Does anyone have any thoughts on hardware specs and performance? This motherboard seems to be surprisingly weak. I know it was announced several years ago, but at this point the CPU, which was never powerful, is 10 years old. I love the fact that there are attempts to make a "modern" amiga system, but I am concerned about the usability of such a system today.

So this is a computer centered around an 11year old system on a chip that was never ment to be the center of a PC design.. It really is quite strange.

For me its too late, i was thinking of getting one but how many years later and still nothing has come of it. except an update that they are tweaking the video drivers and that took so long that now parts are obsolete. Not to mention i'm having more fun with my old Amiga stuff, look how many more games are being released for the Amiga and how many are being released for that new OS barely 1 or 2? it's gonna be a waste of money they missed their opportunity IMO.

Overmann 27 December 2019 22:11

Yeah, I really think the future of the amiga is in the classic line. The fantastic hardware limitations and inspired designs of these machines inspire people. A new wave of motherboards with PCI, AGA, ATX form factors etc. is the way forward I think.

I kinda want one just to support amiga development, although that €400 would go some way towards an 060 card for my A1200...

I understand what you mean, i also want to support Amiga development, but this reminds me more of the old commodore development. releasing computers with past its time technology for that reason i cannot support it.:sad

Amiga is all about old computers, same with all "new" PPC hardware. 400€ is good price for a hobby computer like this. I use my OS4 machine a web computer in my retro cave. For that kind of surfing it is totally OK.

PS. There is no comeback for a Amiga, ever.

They announce Tabor plus and their webmaster has taken a well earned break with his family? :laughing

That true :D but it just remainds us that fact that there is no multimillion company behind these products.

MartinW 30 December 2019 13:14

I was always well up for one of these. But it's come at a bad time (that I suspect is no coincidence). I've just recevied a V4SA which is a very capable system so I'm invested there now. The Tabor will have to now be an item that I sit on the fence and wait to see how it does. If that means I end up in a queue for hens teeth then so be it.

MartinW 12 January 2020 22:08

Totally confused! So you buy one of these at £99 and that may or may not get you into the 100 people that have the option to pay an additional €400 for the A1222 plus motherboard? But you won't have a clue if you are one of those 100 until the end of the month?

Is that right or am I barking up the wrong tree there?

Just about right, I think. Fastest 100 get A1222 early adopter board, and rest can preorder it.

But you wount't just get motherboard, but also a Enhancer software wich has all the necesary drivers and some other updates. Wich is 59€?? I think.

MartinW 12 January 2020 23:11

:) I kind of want to because I want to attempt to port something to it, but I think I'm just going to have to find some AOS4 hardwhere when the time comes.

just to support amiga development
i have heard that mantra for years.

if you want to support amiga development then either develop something for it or help to develop. shoving money into whatever is loosely associated with the label or pretends to be so is the most lame option. funny its still even marginally popular with this audience.

Nome of those interest me, so hard feelings if it woun't ever shipped, IF I get enchancer 2.0 software and A1222 motherboard for a 400€.

tech3475 14 January 2020 12:41

I wonder if ARM will be targeted for future development instead of PPC, considering how cheap and easily available systems are e.g. RPi?

Seiya 14 January 2020 13:59

more easy should be port every Amiga OS in x86-64.
