slow down or bad sound with the intro pirates gold cd32
hello everybody,
is there a version of winuae which can play the intro of pirates gold cd32 correctly ? i tried old versions , sound is bad and with newest one , there is big slowdowns..... do you have the same problem ? if not which winuae do you use ? |
ok the winuae 2.1 works smoothly with different settings than my usual ones.
thank you toni you have really improved the cd32 emulation scdxl etc are really displayed well now. :great |
ok i tested again pirates gold cd32 with winuae 2.5 et 2.6b12 and 2.4.1 always with quickstart cd32 best compatibility and the sound still stuttering during the intro.
did you test it tony ? could you do something ????? |
There is something weird going on.
First video (Microprose title) has 2x speed bit set in CD read command. Which is correct. Second video does not have 2x speed bit set in CD read command. Which is wrong, 2x speed is required, 1x is far too slow. Only possible explanation is that there is CD32 hardware bug/feature and 1x/2x speed change is ignored in some situations. |
you can simulate this bug ???? ps this version diserve to have a good emulation, because this the best version of pirates gold !!! ;)the cd32 don't need to read in 1X speed. when you have a bugfix to test i will be happy to test :spin:bowdown |
Ok, problem is apparently too fast emulation (most common problem in 68020+ modes) and bug in CD32 ROM cd.device.
If new read request comes while drive is still reading (which is quite common, driver always prefetches next ~15 sectors before stopping the CD transfer), already active request is reused and possible 1x<>2x speed change is ignored. Updated cd.device that comes with FMV cartridge seems to fix this bug. CD32 + FMV quickstart config has correct intro video. |
ok it fixes the problem :great
but tony the fmv is really working now ??? |
