Magick & scavengers- cancelled ppc amiga games

Hi, i have the two tech demos from cancelled amiga ppc games from pagan software- i have permission to release those to the community minus the source codes.
Who can test these for me and see if they run etc and where can we archive store those for users to download etc?

Feel free to message me etc.

Once they are tested you can upload them to Turran's FTP. You can also just upload them to the zone as it is automatically saved to the FTP afterwards.

Neat stuff! Put them on Aminet as well.

I sent you a dropbox link via PM. Let me know if you get them running- perhaps make a quick video if you can. I guess these should be updated on HOL- they are not listed there at all.

If you could provide info about those two games it would be really appreciated. Also some screenshots would be great as I don't have a PPC setup for WinUAE ready (yet).

Few years back they were looking coders to finnish these projects.

Is that still option or could sources released also?

If someone genuinely was to try finish these maybe- but I imagine they are fairly incomplete as is and might be tons of work to finish.

As the community still have a lot of really good coders, hopefully something will happen positively on these.

I've tried to run the two packs yesterday afternoon, it made sense only to make videos about Magick, so here they goes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgu8TxjvxJU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EygG8cd8Lso
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfQF98thXXU

What I found so far... Magick is definitely a 68K version with no HW acceleration. The engine gives a small amount of infos after quit, regarding calculated polygons, etc, where it shows 0 done by HW render. Haven't found any keys to modify settings other than movements and turning with DEL/HELP and the arrow keys, and fog density can be set with numeric pad's + and -.
Tried two separate versions, the only difference was the on screen FPS counter, which never went under 20 FPS. The engine itself opens a 320x240 sized RTG screen, don't know if it could work on AGA, had no more time yet but will check later on.

Scavengers is a more interesting animal. The archive contains both the 68K and PPC renderer, with one object and a texture file. The 68K version opens a window in WB, with corrupted gfx, as the spaceship's colours are purple-ish. The 3 keys mentioned in the basic txt included are "C", "L" and "M", which are change between texture and shading on the object, changing the lights and switching between dual and single screenmode. The window can be resized when the render is resized too, the speed although really slow anyway. No interaction, the object spins and moves toward the camera and over.
The PPC version just opened a black screen, but nothing else happened. Found the OS window close button on the top left, but it just can't work and the whole program seems to hang from then. Multitask is still on, so I was able to switch between WB and it's screen. Started it from WB by double clicking on the icon, but did not think on increasing stack nor check with SnoopDOS if anything goes wrong, so that will happen later.

I have to download sgrab to make real screenshots, instead of these camera photos. But at least something interesting we have again. ?

How about Dafel: Bloodline? I believe it was most complete?

Thanks!

No, it was not complete- I believe the source code is lost- I have a World of amiga build and a more advanced 4.2 beta. RTG support was planned too.

I have decided in conjunction with the developers to release these via Amiga Addict magazine with an accompanying article written by myself.

It will be a timed exclusive after which it will be free to everyone.

Woohoo!
