@RetroMan

Already got that amount before I even posted it............i could have sold it for Twice as much and got it!

the SX32 is valuable.............there is no other way to get such power......and I am almost sure I have one of the most powerful in the world.

its Got 128Mb RAM which most SX32 users are unaware that the SX32 supports that much! possibly even 256mb with a splitter.

Also sold the CD32 keyboard seperately...............Real sad to see it go............. but it has to be done.

alexh 20 September 2006 10:30

You sold it for $500.

Damn what is the world coming to?

musashi5150 20 September 2006 10:33

I bought my SX32 Pro a couple of years ago for £130 brand new. I somehow doubt it's now worth $500 - but if someone is willing to buy it for that much then good luck to you ;)

alexh 20 September 2006 10:41

I am starting to develop a theory... I'll post it in a different thread if you are interested. If I am correct, we need only wait a few more years and Amiga bits will be cheap as chips.

musashi5150 20 September 2006 11:47

Hmm... yes, I think Amiga stuff is fasionably 'retro' at the moment - hence higher prices. When the kiddies get bored and move onto the next big thing we can mop up the spoils on eBay perhaps? ;)

It's cyclic... is this in keeping with your theory alexh?

alexh 20 September 2006 20:06

Kinda... but do the Maths.

It's 1990 arguably the year representing the height of Amiga use in the UK. Most Amiga owners are between 10 and 20 years old. Most have no money, wish they could afford the latest thing.

Move forward to 1997. Arguably the END of Amiga usage. Amiga owners are now 17-27. PC's are relatively cheap, 3D games are starting to become Amazing with 3DFX accelerators. Amiga's are being sold off cheap to fund PC purchases or put in lofts.

It's now 2006, 16 years later. Arguably the resurgance in Amiga usage. Most Amiga owners are between 26-36. Most are in good jobs now for a while, probably not married, have lots of disposable income. Getting older means nostalgia creeps in, they decide to buy all the Amiga stuff they couldnt own when they were kids.

Move forward 2 years. 2008. Amiga owners are 28-38. Most are now married, their wives are in charge, all computer related stuff will have to go. Sold off at rediculously low prices.

If we wait a bit longer then there will be a resurgance as we buy stuff again to show to our kids....

The sweet spot for getting Amiga hardware should be 2008-2010.

Heh heh.

Zetr0 21 September 2006 03:35

damn.... i'v been retr0'in for 10 years... and all i had to do was wait 12.... hmmm i have had a lot of fun in those 10 years of retro heaven even if i did cost me...

nice to know though that in a couple of years i could pick up some amiga hardware cheaper than inflated global ebay prices..

VJagentONE 27 September 2006 23:06

@alexh

hehe.......Your theory is a pretty good one and close to the real thing!

But I think Prices will go higher! there will come a time when I am willing to pay $700 for an SX32 if I have to..............How else will you get one? they dont come around that often.................and Time is valuable..........so when people want it now....the only way is to pay. I sold mine for $500 not because I wanted that much..............but because I was so unwilling to sell it!

that thing is worth far more than that trust me.
