Which Amiga was the 'greatest'?

I'm not talking raw horsepower, but rather when first released, which of all the Amiga models represented all the great things that you associate with the name?

Which Amiga truly represents the name and the spirit of 'Amiga'?

There can be only one :)

The A500 may be the most popular, but really, it was the A1000 that started it all.

stevsurv 22 November 2009 08:57

Definately the A500. It had the most games/software available for it. ;)

Pyromania 22 November 2009 09:08

Since I'm a Video Toaster 4000 fan, I say Amiga 4000T.

humble worm 22 November 2009 09:35

A500 of course

nobody votes for CD32 :D

gilgamesh 22 November 2009 09:43

A500, 'cause those were the days.

Amiga 500...!!! :bowdown

fryguy 22 November 2009 14:54

A500.

Galahad/FLT 22 November 2009 14:58

A500, no question.

Yes the A1200 was superior hardware wise, but the A1200 didn't ever create the stir or the legacy the A500 did.

At the time of the A500's release, there was nothing remotely close. When the A1200 was released it was behind the PC already.

Things might have been different if the A1200 had gotten the DSP that the motherboard had the space for, we wouldn't still be moaning about blitter and Paula.

Zandig 22 November 2009 15:33

A500 :great

I thought it had space for a 68882 FPU not a DSP?? I thought only the A3000+ had space for a DSP?

Kitty 22 November 2009 16:08

Amiga 500 1.3 Kickstart :D

Nope, on the motherboard is a space where the DSP should be, its even marked 'DSP'. ;)

the CDTV... for completely mis-understanding the market, and failing miserably ;)

ok, i voted for the A500

Pyromania 22 November 2009 17:46

A500 is awesome too of course! It was my first Amiga and I had one for years. CDTV is also kick ass, I wanted one from the first time I saw it. Proud owner of two CDTV's now and one CD32. I might still have a A500 hidden somewhere too. Sadly I sold my camouflage painted 40Mhz 030 A500 a long time ago. Think it was 1992, I was modding Amiga's before the term was even being used.

Predseda 22 November 2009 17:52

Greatest was A3000, but because is missing in the poll i voted for A1200. Which is imho the most versatile.

Wot the Loreal girl said.

Best Amiga (non-hardware) = Kelly Le Brock from "Weird Science"

AmigaFriend 22 November 2009 19:31

A500 for me.

It was nonetheless the Amiga model that "started it all" in terms of being a popular platform.

ppill 22 November 2009 19:31

Amiga 500, no doubt. Every schoolboy's dream back in the late 80s.
