Myth: History in the Making originated on the C64 in 1989. Brought to Amiga in 1992 with a few changes and upgraded graphics. You play as Ankalagan on a quest to destroy the six evil god-like spirits and their master Dameron, to liberate humanity. Pretty cool, huh. There's a few joystick moves for punching, kicking and weapons, so mess about with it. Use the cursor keys or < and > to cycle through your inventory and press spacebar to use the item. The manual is on HOL. We are playing to beat the game due to infinite spawning enemies making the scoring unfair. This is a great looking game to grab some screenshots anyway to share your progress. Paperboy is the surprisingly iconic 1985 arcade game converted to Amiga in 1989. Brits might imagine you are delivering The Sun newspaper but it was made in America and has a fictional newspaper The Daily Sun. Do your round and destroy the neighbourhood. All I will say is give the games a go, see what you think, and I'll be opening voting for next months games on the 5th. Myth: History in the Making Try to beat the game or just give it a go for the adventurer badge. Feel free to compare scores informally if you like. Paperboy Play Middle Street. Get the highest score you can. There's no hi-score table so get your screenshot at the end of your game. You beat the game when you survive Sunday and get a good newspaper headline, be ready to screenshot it before it disappears. Round Ends: 23:59 (UK Time) on Tuesday 30th June 2020 Score Badges:

I played the one level coverdisk version of Myth to the end several times and was quite impressed with, but I have never played beyond that before and am looking forward to it. Paperboy is completely new to me.

Got to the the third screen, the Temple of Athenae. I had remembered what you are supposed to do on the first screen from the demo I had in the 90s, but it took me a good while to remember how you are supposed to do it (you need to use a variety of different weapons and moves). I haven't worked out to do screen two properly but using lives and continues I was able to get past the siren. On the third screen I was turned to stone each time!

So we can use continues and save states in Myth, since there is no score involved?
|
This was done in one continue. Still screen 3, The Temple of Athenae, but I was able to make out the goddesses' instructions on screen 2 this time.

It's only written there as part of the standard first post. Shouldn't apply to anything in this round. edit - ah I see, you wanted to show a score. gotcha. in that case it's up to players |
does the score reset after the continue?
|
Ok, I will use continues then as all the enemies respawn and score doesn't count for very much.
The manual (HOL) essentially contains a walkthrough for the first part of the game, although much of it can be worked out through experimentation. |

Yes, I think so. You get the high score table before being asked whether you want to continue. |

But if you submit a screenshot for the badges you must have played that go without any save states or cheats. Beat the game as it was originally intended to be played. So continues are fine. |

Screen 5 - Forest of Nidhogg
https://i.postimg.cc/fVBNgFL5/Myth-H...1-of-3-004.png I'm not sure how much I am allowed/supposed to give away in terms of tips and hints, but in the few plays I have had so far, three times a crucial game object has either disappeared because I did not pick it up fast enough, or appeared in a place where I cannot pick it up and then vanished. So if you see one of these objects, make sure you go for it fast, and think about where it might appear. Also if you die before you can pick it up, it will be gone again and you will have to use a continue to try again. |
That's useful info.
Also, congrats on being the first player to ever receive a badge on Leaderboard. :) Looking forward to getting into this one. It's like an original God of War or something. I'll be trying to work out as much as I can myself, but the guide to level 1 in the manual does help you understand the game design and how to approach it. Really like these sorts of action adventures. |
What I'm I supposed to do on Myth's first level? The above path is blocked by Cerberus and the under path has a pit that seems to be impossible to jump over.
Never played it before. I'm not a fan of the hold fire+direction to attack (just like in Lionheart) but otherwise seems solid. |

I'm only on screen 5 but in this game there is a lot of wondering what you are supposed to do on each screen. The manual, linked above gives an idea of what you are supposed to do in the early levels, when we get to the end of that guide we are supposed to figure it out the rest of it for ourselves! On the first screen you need to experiment with different weapons and moves. |
I'm going to get started on Myth tomorrow. Just looking at the related bits at the mo.
For anyone else getting started that hasn't seen the manuals, Myth came with an 8 page comic and the last page was this, which has some cryptic hints and is generally a cool extra. https://i.postimg.cc/85qGWVty/myth-hints.jpg |
That looks interesting, I've downloaded the whole comic from HOL.
Posting the controls here for reference: Code:

Solving the puzzles is the fun part. Myth feels a bit like Shadow of the Beast in that regard. The combat is... not great, so savour the puzzles. :p
I've just made it to the second area. It's a button extravaganza on my gamepad. One button mapped to fire, one to jump, one for select item, bumpers for cycle left/right. |
Yeah, this game is crying out for a hack to give everything its own gamepad button. Right now, I'm actually finding it easier to play on keys. I'm kinda used to them for platformers.
Made it as far as Asgard and have Thor running about being annoying. Haven't worked out the order of things yet. Really liked the scene on the boat. Got some heads flying in a good rhythm. https://i.postimg.cc/W1TW74DC/myth-asgard-odin.png |
Time to get a score up for Paperboy. Made it to Thursday.
And I updated the ADF in the OP because the newspaper image was totally glitched on the old one. Recommend WHDLoad anyway. 17,900 https://i.postimg.cc/XN9PH8mr/PBY-17900.png |
