Pyromania 07 March 2021 17:22

Very very nice!

malko 07 March 2021 17:36

May I ask what is the benefit of a lifetime licence ?
Do they plan to release new Kickstart and/or OS ?
Or is it a lifetime licence for the amiga emulator ?

lesta_smsc 07 March 2021 18:01

Just got an alert on Windows to say I can upgrade for free!

Free Upgrade

A new major version is available, and it appears that you have a Lifetime Upgrades license, so the upgrade would be free for you.

Major version free upgrade instructions are sent via email. It may take 1-2 days to reach all customers.
Be sure to also check your junk mail folder.
so i assume, i'll have to wait for that email...

buying the lifetime license says that i would get lifetime upgrades for me for amiga forever and C64 forever, ( i own both) not sure if its like that for everyone.

malko 08 March 2021 00:48

^ So it's related with the emulator. Thanks for the answer.

Yeah for me to upgrade its £17.95 and to get lifetime it's 49.95, lifetime means literally forever you'll get every new Amiga/C64 Forever version for free. so in that sense its worth it as it saves you forking out every new version number.

I have still the 2013 edition. Is it worth to buy the new one?

zenox98 08 March 2021 09:51

I have version 8 and there doesn't appear to be that much of an improvement to warrant a version 9, IMO.

honx 08 March 2021 10:02

i updated to version 9 today and there is a loss. :( so "update" is the wrong word, "downgrade" fits better.
from earlier versions there was an AmigaSYS 4 configuration from 2009 located in amiga files/systems tab.
it was there in amiga forever 2013, 2014, 2016, amiga forever 7 and 8. now it is gone. i wanted to keep it!
and if i remember correctly, there was another preinstalled amigaos configuration which is now also gone. :(
i don't know, what else is now missing after downgrading to amiga forever 9...

//edit: an older version of amikit is the other configuration i mentioned which now went missing.
there was also preinstalled aros configuration (ready to run). now you have to download aros...

Just had a look on the site. I would of really liked CRT emulation. That might of made me upgrade and actually use the Forever software. But as it is, I just use the ROMs.

Dic_Ray 08 March 2021 12:16

Imho, it's good to support Amiga developer, but to be honest I don't understand why I should buy again and again the whole package. I compared Amiga Forever 9 against the Amiga Forever 8 folder and found nearly no differences between them. I also recognized, that AmigaSYS isn't there anymore. It was enough to copy the AmigaSYS.rp9 file from Amiga Forever 8 and it was available again. Afaik Amiga Explorer is now included. The new media views are helpful, but by far not so eye candy like the FS-UAE Launcher and Arcade offers for years. So all together I see no real benefit to update.

fxgogo 08 March 2021 13:54

I seem to remember when updating to 8 that AmigaSys and Amikit had to be downloaded first. They were no there by default. Explorer has always been there for me. Had it since the 2011 version.

Definitely agree with you re supporting the Amiga development.

If 2013 works and does everything you want it to then no.

Which Amiga developers exactly are you supporting by purchasing Amiga Forever bloatware?

Do you guys really think Cloanto actually give money to say Toni or Frode with every purchase, for all their constant hard work with WinUAE and FS-UAE, that's been include in the Amiga Forever package?
