Hotpluggable joystick devices in FS-UAE?

Controllers have to be connected before Launcher or FSUAE is started, right? If you forgot to connect one and plug it in after Launcher or FSUAE is started, it will not be usable, right?

Is the reason for this in the sdl which lies beneath FSUAE ? Or can it perhaps be easily altered to a better behavior where the Launcher or FSUAE is able to grab the plugged in controller and is then able to use it?
-->> Like a real amiga would do in this case. ;-) <<--

(I have seen such behavior for example in "parallels" a virtualisation software to run windows under osx. Just an idea, in case that it is not too complex to develop. )

No, it's not impossible to do, just very inconvenient :). Basically, you need to shutdown and re-init the SDL joystick subsystem to see the new devices. I have done this for FS Game Center, which supports hot-pluggable joysticks in this way.

But during emulation, this is not a desirable thing to do regularly (would interfere with playing), so one would need a implement a trick to find out if there's new devices attached, and only then perform the reinitialization (and also, other parts of the code would need an update to support a dynamic device list).

= quite some work, perhaps in the future :)

Yes, I have thought about implementing it there (FS-UAE Launcher), exactly for that reason :)
