Nostalgia
Just been playing with YAPE - Plus/4 emulator
I got my first computer at the age of 5 - it was a Plus/4 (thx mum & dad - must have cost a fortune).. From age 5-10 I learned how to program it.. I was able to program in BASIC pretty well :) I even learned some assembly (though that is now forgotten :crying) for writing fast gfx routines. Seeing the demoscene prods for the +4 has brought back some memories. Makes me wonder what I would be doing now if I didn't get that opportunity as a child! When I was 10 or 11 years old I got my first Amiga - it was an A500+ - which I had till only a couple of years ago. I remember being wowed by its capabilities! I upgraded it as much as I could afford to and eventually had a 1Gb hard disk, 16Mb Fast ram and 2Mb chip. I also had a Supra 28. Now I dream of getting a *working* 1200 with PPC and 060... I must say I am still shocked at current prices though. Hopefully in the not too distant future I will start making enough to buy everything I want! Thanks to my early start, and my Amiga - I am in a job I love, doing network support, running a scanning bureau and currently develing a .net application for electronic document management! -I am also working on a database for a client which could lead to big things. Once the app is complete I am expecting to start earning "proper" money - we have quite a few clients interested - and a couple of orders already! I guess I owe a lot to my parents! I still hate Windows, but I have learned to live with it! |
