FastRAM enhanced Amiga games
..

Not really what you are looking for since it targets non AGA games, but this thread can hint you towards some games:
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=65574 For instance: Zeewolf 2 - Fast RAM improves frame-rate. |
sometimes fast memory is only used to save some loading times... and sometimes fast memory is used to load the code: here you get massive speedup.
Most system-compliant games will naturally use fastmem (unless the exec hunks are forced to CHIP like Chaos Engine CD32 or Ultimate Body Blows CD32 grrrrr). So I'd rather make a list of games which WON'T use fastmem (add the 2 above in the list, unless you're using the whdload patch :)) |
We already have a list of games that have issues with fast ram along with a list of games that are fixed so why not create a list of games that are helped by fast ram or are only playable with fast ram.
The most obvious as Amigajay suggests is 3D or FPS games as they are helped along by the speed increase the likes of the TF328 brings. I for one would confirm the following: Gloom CD32 release run full screen full speed with fast ram Gloom deluxe runs at near full screen (2 sizes down i think) full speed with a 2x1 pixel ratio Fears is like above except you can't change the graphical quality, or at least I can't figure out how to. Guardian gets a nice speed boost making the game a lot more playable but still does slow to single figure frame rate in later levels when your being swarmed Doom is an obvious one that needs the fast ram. Alien breed 3D runs full speed full screen only showing slow down when barrels explode |
I'd be very keen to see a disc that takes advantage of FASTRAM. if such a thing was to ever appear i, for one, would download it and play those sweet games.
I noticed the CD32 conversion of commander keen runs at a playable speed now I have fastram, where as before it was VERY slow. |
In the past i played Lotus 2 in 2 players mode on A1200 + Fast Ram at a full framerate.
